Dr. Randall Beatty was awesome and really helped me understand what is going on with my eyes. However, the staff that I have dealt with after my office visit with getting my much needed prescription filled has been absolutely horrendous. A woman by the name of Mary called me after two calls to the office regarding the medication I was prescribed. She was very rude and was of no help at all. The prescription I need requires the doctors office to provide the paperwork to the pharmaceutical company's pharmacy. The office refuses to help me. I recommend Dr. Beatty, but the office staff is rude, unprofessional and unhelpful.

I am so sad to be writing this review but am compelled to. I had been a patient there for 34 years. The doctors that i saw there both for glaucoma and cataract surgery were excellent. Then something changed in the last few years….things at allegheny orbital went progressively down hill. Both doctors i saw there who were top notch left to retire and a new dr came in that i was to see .that never happened that dr left abruptly. The front office staff is rude and sometimes has a downright mean attitude when dealing w patients. They make people wait for hours in the waiting room and the flow of patients is poorly managed. They talk to you in a rude condescending manner. I was at one point told the optometrist there will not be willing to refract me because i went to upmc to see an eye dr there for glaucoma ( when my original dr from agh left the practice there)it just seems like they really dont care about keeping their patients and as a patient of 34 years i felt insulted. Why do they care what other drs i see? They seem to have a major grudge/competitive attitude towards UPMC. As for AGH hospital that has also taken a bad turn.. The parking garage there takes 15 minutes just to get to a parking space. I came into the lobby and was stopped as if i was doing something wrong by walking to my appt location by a security person questioning where i was going. (I am a mid 50s everyday looking female). His manner was gruff and accusatory. The whole experience was a bad one i dont wish to repeat. So sad to see a once very upstanding professional practice turn into a negative all around experience. I have found another dr/ practice outside the Allegeny network and i hope they do something to raise the service bar before everyone goes elsewhere.
