Rude check-in person. Told her their location is very unfriendly to handicapped (no handicapped parking anywhere close and a full, tall curb without wheelchair slope) . I told reception as soon as I walked in and she couldn't have cared less.
Go anywhere else (esp if you have to roll or assist someone coming to get an eye exam or glasses!!!) Also, the place smells and looks dirty and like no one cleans the carpet.
I waited 20 minutes in an empty waiting room to get the initial eye exam before seeing the optometrist. This was also 20 minutes past my appointment time.
I ended up having to select my own glasses to try on and find a place to sit down with a mirror to see what frames I liked and had to borrow wet wipes ( from the lovely receptionist) to clean almost 20 pairs of very smudged and dirty frames that were on the wall. Multiple frames actually had cracked glass or plastic lenses which should never have been able to be tried on for possibility of eye injury to customers! I cleaned all of the lenses and then gave them to the person who came to finally help me and told her they should probably be sterilized before being put back on the wall. Other eyeglass places I have been to usually have a dirty bucket to be sanitized after people try them on but I did not see one anywhere in this store. No excuse, especially with sanitation issues currently even though at least 5 people are standing around waiting to sell glasses to people.
**Update- complained to the district manager and the owner of the franchise at Pleasant Valley contacted me immediately and apologized and offered a refund on the glasses I had purchased. When I went to pick them up everyone was (not surprisingly), very attentive and nice and friendly and then helpful.
The inaccessibility is still a concern but it is actually the issue of the shopping center management to deal with and hopefully somebody will. I appreciate their efforts to rectify my initial bad experience. **

Today i came in for a walk in since my glasses were broken. Americas best was having an issue and their system was down. I was Assisted by a someone named Todd and they were absolutely AMAZING! They assisted me in every way possible and made sure that was able to get seen. They were kind, witty, and personable. They made the experience amazing. They really went above and beyond for me. GIVE TODD A RAISE!!!!

I have been here several times and have always had a good experience. However today I went in to have my lens replaced after it popped out and there was a man who was quietly berating his staff in front of customers. He must have been a manager because he asked the receptionist (who as far as I’m aware has been there at least a month) what her duties were and then asked what would happen if he came up there and things weren’t done right. I could immediately tell how uncomfortable that made her (in front of multiple customers). There are many ways to manage and to teach and he is not doing it right at all. I did not get his name as his name tag was covered (he was wearing a jacket) but the way he was talking to his employees was very demeaning. I have been in situations with managers like this and it is HORRIBLE for moral. I hope the employees are okay because they are always pleasant and attentive, but seems like they need to walk on eggshells when this person is present. I will continue to go here because I always have great experiences but I am pretty appalled at how this person was talking down to the employees. Praise in public, correct in private.
