Dr. Curtis Anderson’s behavior was extremely inappropriate and disrespectful during our visit. My 10-year-old autistic niece had a distressing encounter with him. She informed her mother that Dr. Anderson used offensive language, including explicit words. I want to emphasize that my niece doesn’t use such language, rarely lies, and seldom becomes upset. She’s a strong, independent, and intelligent child, and it’s not easy to make her sad.
When Dr. Anderson came out, the conversation between my sister and him transpired as follows:
Dr. Anderson: “I can’t examine her; she won’t read the letter and she can’t see.”
My sister: “She’s autistic, and I wrote that on her paperwork. Did you adjust the equipment?”
Dr. Anderson (interrupting): “You’ll have to take her to Grady…”
My sister (interrupting): “She said you cursed at her.”
Dr. Anderson: “I didn’t curse at her.”
My sister: “Then what exactly did you say? What occurred? I’m seeking clarity, not trying to cause a scene.”
Dr. Anderson: “Whatever she claims happened is what happened.”
My sister: “So you did use offensive language towards her. She’s a 10-year-old autistic child. She wouldn’t lie about this, let alone cry about it.”
Dr. Anderson: “Would you like her to be examined? If not, have a nice day.”
My sister: “No, did you curse at her?”
Dr. Anderson: “It’s just an eye exam, not a serious matter. Why would I curse at her?”
My sister: “Then what on earth did you say to a 10-year-old autistic child to make her cry?”
Dr. Anderson: (no response)
This experience was absolutely unacceptable, and my sister has decided she will never return to his practice. This is by far the worst encounter we’ve ever had with a doctor.

Dr Anderson has knowledgeable in what he does! He made me comfortable upon entering the exam room and am grateful to have his expertise with ensuring the correct script for my glasses. Unfortunately, the reason behind me not given his practice 5 stars, is due to his front desk. I do not have their names, but there was one with a short curly cut and one with shoulder length brown hair “Bertha” (I will speak on the latter, because the first staff mentioned was engaging and helpful).
“Bertha” seems to always have an attitude upon entering, during, and while one is exiting the office. For example, I was done with my office visit with the Dr. and needed to get my sizing for my glasses. Waiting patiently at the counter, realizing now, I’ve been there since 11:40 am and it is not 1:20 pm, I needed to leave to continue my day and couldn’t wait much longer. I spoke with Bertha and asked her if I can come back and she stated that it would only take a moment and I shared that I couldn’t wait. Bertha sighed came to me and laid the machine heavily on my face. I was not sure if placing it in my face was apart of if the experience, so I did not say anything, until I looked up and saw my mother shaking her head in dismay, which she stated that she did not want to say anything, because she wanted to keep the peace. I will be returning and mentioning this to Dr. Anderson, because I’m sure his business will suffer due to his front desk. He is phenomenal and that would not be fair to him.
