Worst experience ever with an optometrist. I have contacts/glasses in the -8 range (actually -7.5 but my Dr Potts had me in up to -8.5 due to my eyes being so inflamed from the products he recommends) so it's not ideal to wear glasses (distorted around edges/no peripheral vision due to such bad vision) much of the day - only in emergencies. His wife is the office personnel and she goes on and on about how many awards Dr Potts has, etc. On my last visit, he actually yelled at me about wearing my contacts "too much" (I never slept in them, we're just talking about normal daily use), because my eyes were so inflamed and I routinely had eye issues that he was unable to help me with after several visits and using his products. After having him yell at me about contacts usage (enough to cause tears but I was quite pregnant so perhaps extra sensitive - though that didn't stop him from being completely and utterly rude) and telling me to stop using contacts (using the only brand he recommends, which I can't remember the name because this was years ago), I decided to go to real ophthalmologists - started with Kresge Eye Institute. She took a look at my eyes and brand of contacts and immediately said they were some of the worst choices - they do not let hardly any oxygen in to the eye and my eyes had been starving of oxygen which was causing serious problems. Tons of tiny blood vessels were growing across my field of vision due to the lack of oxygen, the eye was trying to find other ways to get air. This would eventually lead to blindness. Thankfully, this expert Dr gave me recommendations for proper contacts and many years later I refuse to go to trust any Optometrist to care for my eyes - only professionals /experts, ophthalmologists. Dr Potts also was a bad experience for my husband as well. I currently use Biofinity contacts which lets a ton of air through compared to the ones Dr Potts insists on. Thankfully my eyes are in good health, and on top of that, it took a few months but they recovered from the damage Dr Potts caused and my eyesight is down to -7.5 in both eyes. Do not go here - I would have eventually gone blind under Dr Potts supervision. The office is horribly run down and depressing as well, a good sign to run the other direction. Not professional service and not an expert in his field as much as they love to tell you otherwise. I 100% regret picking his name from my insurance Dr list.

I went in as a new patient and referral from two other people and had a great experience with Dr. Anthony Potts. The issue, however, is with his wife, Susan Potts. Due to their limited selection, I asked if I can consider my options before committing to $300.00+ glasses. Never have I been treated so horribly by a "medical professional". She went into detail in the most condescending way about why they only carry what they do. I respected and understood "their why" said I'd think about it and call back. Today, I called asking if my prescription could be sent to me to check out my options, and she proceeded to tell me to find another doctor and hung up. I should have read all of the various reviews about this place first, but you'd think you can trust a referral from two different people. There are far too many other Optometrists in the area to go back to such a place that cares so little about others. TERRIBLE SERVICE.

I’m a difficult case when it comes to vision. Two of my siblings have Keratokonus and though I don’t have it, I seem to have a lot of problems with getting a good fitting pair of contact lenses. My Ophthamalogist finally sent me to Dr Potts who is very experienced in fitting contact lenses for difficult cases. I’m in the medical field so before going to him I researched optometrists who can fit specialty lenses and found the recommendations for Dr Potts in Troy and someone else in Ann Arbor. I couldn’t be happier with my choice of Dr Potts. Being a difficult case, it required many visits to the office to get the proper fit - something my Ophthamalogist wasn’t willing to do and I’m very happy with my contact lenses. Additionally, he spent a large amount of time fitting me with several pairs of new glasses which were considerably cheaper than the chains (e.g. Pearl Vision Ctr). Finally, I’m grateful for his Saturday hours since I woke up one Saturday morning with a painful red eye. I was able to avoid an ER visit and see Dr Potts who diagnosed and treated me for a foreign body lodged in my eye. I highly recommend Dr Potts!
