Update: (June 2019) Everything I've said is still true, this is a spectacular office and they are very, very good with kids. The building is pristine and the outer doors are handicap accessible with push-button opening, but you have to pull open the office door. This building will probably be difficult to find without Maps guiding you. If you found this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up! Thanks! Original: (June 2018) They always do a great job with my young daughter who has been having appointments yearly since she was one. The staff and doctors are all friendly and I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes. The facility is very clean and comfortable with lots of reading material, even kids' books, and also TV.

Similar experience to multiple reviewers here. Dr. Patel miss-prescribed me, then COVID happened and my appointments were pushed back by the schedulers. I was repeatedly told that I had 'no-call-no-showed' my appointments and that I would be reported to my insurance, and not elligible for my exam benefit. I finally made another appointment that wasn't rescheduled and the 3 days leading up to the follow up I was sent 19 reminders via text. Then, 4 hours before my appointment, I was called by the office manager who aggressively questioned me on wether or not I planned on making my appointment that day. Thank you, next. I've moved over to Advanced Eyecare in Oconee and it's night and day better.

We have used AEA for years and were very happy with the level of care and customer service. This was until the practice "temporarily" closed. The communication has been terrible and sporadic. We were instructed to contact their sister location in Monroe for appointments and information. When you call that location, it always goes to voice mail and maybe they call you back. We have been trying to get my daughter's eyeglass prescription with no success. When the office did call me back they confirmed her script was still valid for a little while but have been giving me a run around about getting a copy. She was recently in an accident and her glasses were damaged. I did let them know the urgency of the matter but they obviously don't care. Very unprofessional and terrible service. Will not be continuing any business with them or anyone associated with them.

Dr. Jacobs is kind, considerate and such a wonderful doctor! Linda is very helpful. She will work hard to set you up for appointments quickly. Savanna is fast in getting back to you when you email or call. I have never had a bad experience there. Everyone cares so much and goes above and beyond.

I have been a patient of Dr Jacobs for 15 years. He is the best ophthalmologist I have encountered , and I actually enjoy my appointments and our discussions.

Please let us know a few details. “Temporarily closed. When we reopen soon.” What does that mean if we have important visits scheduled? Should we find another provider? What about our records? This is not what I would have expected from this practice!

This is my favorite eye doctor office I’ve been to since I started wearing contacts 12 years ago. The staff is so kind and helpful, especially Ms. Caroline! Caroline helped me tremendously in transferring my records to another office during this temporary closure. Whenever this office reopens, I will be back!

Very disappointed in the poor communication from this office. Myself and my other 3 family members currently use this office as our provider. I had an appointment on the books for 6 months that was cancelled within a week of the appointment with no explanation or ability to reschedule (or even speak to a live person). My wife is on her last pair of contacts and has also had an appointment for months. Likewise, we have no way of knowing if her appointment will be honored. Sadly, looks like we have to seek another provider

I received a text message that ‘staffing issues’ have caused the office to close, my appointment (that I made almost a year ago) has been cancelled and I would be contacted to reschedule. This was on July 25. I’ve received no such call and will not remain in limbo over the care of something as important as my vision. How can I trust my care to an organization that can do no better than this?

Dr Jacobs is an absolute gem. He takes the time to get to know you and understand what is going on. He works with referring physicians to ensure your health is a priority. I am so grateful to have him on my side while navigating a new diagnosis. He is a great physician and I wouldn’t trust my eye care to anyone else. I highly recommend him and his awesome staff.

This is a very large office, which might lead you to believe that the customer service would be lacking. That is far from the truth. The staff is warm, friendly, and they go above and beyond for their patients. Dr. Patterson takes his time and is great about any and all questions. The nurses and ladies who assist him in the office or on the phone make this office phenomenal. Both Tina and Amy went well out of their way to help me to get eye drops approved through my insurance. They did all the work that I’ve had to do at practices in the past. They are outgoing, helpful, and just extremely kind people. Along with great medical care, they provide what every patient needs and deserves…kindness and compassion. Love them!

Hands down the best eye care I have ever experienced. Two cataract surgeries and numerous office visits were flawless. Professional, efficient, caring, and knowledgeable staff. I could not have asked for more.

Dr. Jacobs and his team have been taking care of my family for about 10 years. We have had great interactions with all of the professionals on staff and always feel welcomed and treated with personalized service. I highly recommend Athens Eye Associates!

I saw Dr.Taylor F today and all I can say is wow! What wonderful bedside manner! She took her time and was incredibly kind and friendly. It was so busy but I was in and out within the hour. I never felt rushed by anyone. I was excited to know my insurance cover my exam as well! I'm not used to having such wonderful care. I will definitely recommend doctor Taylor and will be back and setting up an appointment for my husband as well.

Called this morning due to an eye issue over the weekend and they got me in today!!! Very nice facility, extremely caring and helpful staff as well. Dr. Jacobs was very kind, thorough and explained everything to me in a way I could understand! Very pleased with entire visit!!

I saw Dr Taylor Ficek and received a thorough exam and could not have been more impressed. Remember you get what you pay for, do not spend a little less at any of these franchise eye shops.

Great experience with my 10 year old! Beautiful office, friendly staff, and great doctor! We were moved along quickly but the doctor took time with us and explained everything and answered all of our questions.

I would give six gold stars if I could! I have seen Dr. Gadlin, Dr. Jacobs and Dr. Johnson and they all are excellent doctors and especially nice people. Dr. Jacobs is always caring and has a great "bedside manner". Dr. Gadlin is very nice also and is always deeply interested in my well-being. Everyone on the staff is nice too. Especially Buzzy. They also should be recognized for donating their time and travels to poor countries to help improve people's vision who do not have access to a doctor. Lastly, the wait times are always minimal. Dr Eric Johnson is a great Eye Dr. he’s friendly and actually takes the time to examine you unlike most doctors that are in such a hurry because their over booked with patients. The atmosphere is kid friendly and my children love Dr Johnson.

Be sure not to be late. They have a 10 minute cut off policy and will not take you if you're​ 10 minutes or more late to your appointment. Besides that, my grand daughter and I love Dr Gladin and his assistant! They are great with kids!!

Extremely friendly staff!!! Very comfortable office and I was in and out in less than an hour. They treated me while I was a patient at Mercy Health Center(a free clinic for people without health insurance) and was so pleased that I came back once I was able to get insurance through my job. Love this practice!

Never really developed a relationship with Dr. Johnson, which would be fine, but we did not communicate well. Contacts came in as a different prescription at least twice, after the conversation during the exam was that nothing had changed. Even after I asked if this was correct, do not feel that I received an acceptable explanation. This is not counting the time that we tried different prescriptions for mono vision. While many in the office staff were friendly and helpful, one practically berated me at the counter because my insurance card did not have the name she wanted to see on it, I believe for the processor. The last straw was when I was called in the afternoon to postpone an appointment for the next morning. After calling and introducing herself and telling me they needed to postpone, I was put on hold so she could answer another line. After a few minutes I rang back to someone else, who put me back on hold. I hung up after another wait, and never heard back from the office again. Two months later I made an appointment with another optometrist, and so far I could not be happier. An issue I had been dealing with for over a year was immediately resolved at the new office, so I think I made the right call...
