We took our 4-year-old here by referral from our pediatrician and had an absolutely horrible experience. They seemed visibly annoyed while conducting the exam, which was already challenging due to his anxiety, which I spoke with them about. They dilated his eyes for the exam and when he told the nurse that his eyes hurt, she immediately told him that they did not, as though he were lying. Then the final result of the exam was doctor accusing my son of faking blurry vision as a way to get glasses. I informed her he has never asked about having glasses or expressed interest in them at all, and she insisted he was faking it simply because he either “saw it on TV” or because “both his parents wear glasses”. We will be speaking with our pediatrician about a new referral somewhere else and sharing how unprofessional the experience was. The only 5 star review on here is literally from one of their own employees…

After having been to this practice for 15 years, we learned Dr. Young retired and left the practice to WFUBMC. My now 18-y.o. son had an appt scheduled a year in advance, and the new practice flat-out refused to honor the appointment time/date because he was now 18. They refused to allow my child to be seen, unceremoniously kicking him and his eye care to the curb- absolutely zilch continuity of care. No phone call, no notification of changes. I now have to find a new ophthalmologist rather than work with the existing physician group for a referral for continued eye care. Absolute slop and total disregulation from this company; no surprise coming from Atrium Health. They have already destroyed this once-highly regarded practice's reputation. Very sorry to Dr. Young- he was an excellent physician. Go elsewhere for quality eye care for your children- this practice no longer has the stellar reputation it had earned, and is serviced only by part-time physicians driving in from WFUBMC. Give your children the best - this is NOT it.
