New patient based on a recommendation from co-worker. Front Desk receptionist was very helpful and informative. The back office staff was very professional and explained each procedure. Dr. Boland was kind and had a good sense of humor. He explained what he was doing and the results of the eye exam which was not explained at my previous (1 time) eye doctor. I will continue to go Dr. Boland practice.

My visit at Boland Eye Center was less than perfect. Dr. Boland insisted that I had huge peripheral loss of vision due to glaucoma. During the appointment, Dr Boland spoke to me with impatience, impugned the examinations of previous ophthalmologists and optometrists, and insisted I had a large amount of severe optic nerve damage and peripheral vision loss that was clearly not the case. When I reported to him that I was having no such peripheral vision difficulty using one or both eyes, he insisted that I was wrong, that it was impossible, and that I was not capable of ascertaining the extensive damage I was experiencing. Dr Boland treated me as though I were a small, ignorant child, which was very upsetting and humiliating. Combined with the dire condition he insisted my eyes were in put me in a state of anxiety, confusion and diminishment that was totally unnecessary. I had to deal with this anxiety and anger for several weeks until I could get a second opinion and appropriate testing. Frankly, I knew Dr. Boland was wrong about the severity, but he was unable to either listen or to accept that the honest reporting of a patient differed with his considered opinion. Additionally, the prescription, at a cost of $45, for the new glasses I received, was very inaccurate and beyond the range of simple discretion. Not satisfied with my vision through the new glasses I received from LensCrafters, I paid $80 for an additional exam which showed a significantly different result. The O.D. at LensCrafters explained that some parts were within the range of variability, but others were simply incorrect for my eyes. I felt I could rightly request a total refund of $279.86, which was denied by Dr Boland. I later received a partial refund that was the amount my insurance paid for the visit....

Exceptional care, excellent staff and welcoming environment. I have recommended this practice to many people over the 10 years I have been a patient.
