I had a wonderful experience at this appointment. The staff were kind and efficient. Dr. Lee was great! The representative that helped me pick out frames was amazing!

1st time visited California Eye clinic this morning. Highly recommended eye clinic.
Excellent staffs from the front desk to technician Jessica to Dr Lee and Dr Garg, very clear instructions and professionally run
Although there was line of people, patients were called in orderly. I got done with my exam promptly.

My mother’s appointment was scheduled for 2:45 pm with Dr. Wang. We arrived at 2:30 pm and it was like a busy emergency room full of patients with the waiting area and hallway packed, sitting and standing around waiting to be seen. The appointment had been set up to see Dr. Wang but instead, we saw an optometrist by the last name Lee. After he checked my mom, he told her that there was nothing wrong with her eyes despite severe eye pain in both eyes, implying that it was all in her head when she couldn’t even open her eyes to look into the light. He proceeded to tell us that if her eyes were really hurting, then she should have gone to the emergency room. I insisted that something wrong was with her vision. He said he will have the D.M check her, to which I asked if he was actually a doctor, and he replied “No, and I never will be,” sarcastically. We waited 2 1/2 hours to see Dr. Wang and the only reason why we didn’t leave was because mom’s eyes were in severe pain, but after this experience, we will never go back to this California eye client. Both of my parents used to go here to see a great and caring M.D. by the name of Dr. Shah, but he only goes there one day a week meaning he is almost never there. This clinic has now been made into a corporation that cares about the profits over the patients. After my parents were going here to see Dr. Shah for over 9 years, we will no longer be returning to this California eye clinic ever again because of this horrible and demeaning experience that a patient should never endure. Goodbye.

Overcrowded waiting room. Nowhere to sit . After standing for an hour waiting for the appt, I decided to sit on the dirty floor. Why do they overbook patients ? This was a horrible experience

This doctor treated me like I was a hypochondriac. Didn't see any issues & since he doesn't know me personally & has never seen me before until today, he doesn't see my eyelids as being swollen like the referring doctor did. He was basically saying there's nothing wrong & he can't do surgery on a non-existent problem. I responded saying I didn't ask for surgery, I was sent here since the referring doc felt I needed further testing. Wait an hour & a half for him to tell me this in under 5 minutes. Very disappointed.

Been going here for over a year now and this office is great, never had to wait super long, staff is always super kind. Would be nice though if there’re more ways to get into contact with the office like email, my chart, etc…
I have returned to update my review. I now understand where the bad reviews are coming from. It could possibly be because of the mixed staff. Half the staff is amazing never had any issues and I dealt with someone named Cassie And she completely made my experience, horrible. Very rude, Seems like her negative day she rubs off on patients. Definitely gives the clinic a bad look even over the phone, Such negative attitude.
UPDATED: if you care about your eyes health do not go here they prescribed me contacts and throughout the entire time the fitting was incorrect, and the doctor was very Unprofessional, As well as the staff manager did not want to hear any of my concerns or complaints or what my issues are only yelled at me on the phone if “I wanted a appointment Or not” and I have a recording of this as well, very unprofessional

My mother went to see Meng Lee, O.D. because she was experiencing vision loss. Despite her serious symptoms, he failed to properly evaluate or treat her condition. His care was dangerous, harmful, careless, irresponsible, and unprofessional.
At the first visit, he performed some basic tests—eye pressure, vision check, and optic nerve exam—and told us her problems were just due to “old age.” He never even mentioned the early cataracts that were documented in her record.
At the second visit, he was still unsure of the problem. He did almost no new exams, "diagnosed" her with “dry eyes,” suggested she "try" some eye drops, and said nothing else needed to be done—except repeatedly asking my mother to come back, without giving any clear explanation or follow-up plan. Instead, he pushed for glasses, even though glasses were not the cause of her vision problems.
Most importantly, he did not perform or recommend any standard glaucoma tests, such as:
Visual field testing
OCT imaging
Gonioscopy
Pachymetry
Referral to an ophthalmologist (a medical eye doctor)
These are standard components of a complete glaucoma evaluation, especially in a patient aged 70, with cataracts and borderline IOP readings (20 mmHg is still within normal range but at the higher end).
Although he presents himself as a “glaucoma-certified optometrist,” he completely missed the signs of glaucoma and failed to manage my mother’s serious condition. We didn’t question it at the time—because we didn’t know about the standard glaucoma tests and trusted him, especially after he brushed it off and said she was “just old,” as if that explained everything.
Over two years later, a great doctor performed the proper tests and diagnosed her with advanced glaucoma at the first visit. Unfortunately, by then, the damage was permanent.
This is a serious failure of care. If Meng Lee had properly evaluated her symptoms or referred her to a medical specialist, my mother’s vision could have been saved.
This level of negligence should not be tolerated in any healthcare setting. Someone who ignores clear signs of disease and fails to provide even the most basic standard of care should not be allowed to continue practicing. He should have his license revoked.

Don’t go here if you care about your health.
As you can see from years and years of bad reviews, This eye clinic is not somewhere you wanna go. Please go through some of these reviews experiences because I never expected to have such an awful experience at a place where I’m supposed Get help. I cannot believe the way I was spoken to by some of the staff here. Nor can I believe the unprofessionalism of the doctors. Truly in shock, these reviews are real.

My experience with Dr. Lee, Dr. Hwang and the entire staff at both Walnut Creek and Antioch through the process of cataract surgery have been amazing. Kim, the coordinator, has gone out of her way to help me through the SDI enrollment.
The clinics are very busy, so I anticipate that sometimes there is a wait. I'm okay with that.
The fact that they accept my Medicare and supplemental help immensely.

Today, I went in for an appointment with my mother, and the experience was absolutely awful. The doctor treated me very poorly and was extremely disrespectful. Both my mother and I felt very uncomfortable and upset by the way we were spoken to. We were left waiting for a long time with no explanation, and the overall environment felt dismissive and unprofessional. Eventually, we decided to leave because the situation was unbearable. I will never return to this clinic. It is truly disappointing to see healthcare professionals treat patients this way. No one deserves to be treated with such disrespect, especially when they are seeking medical help.

HORRIBLE!
This office diagnose me with an eye issue and sent a referral out to a place for me to get surgery on my eyes. After an entire year, went by for the referral, I had heard nothing The next steps and was prescribed Harland’s contacts that my insurance don’t cover so anytime I had issues with these contacts that they gave me I cannot be seen, but apparently still just waiting for the surgery. I reach out to the place I was referred to, And they literally told me that they do not perform that specific surgery and they have not performed that Specific surgery in years. Which seemed pretty unreal to me that I have been struggling with these unfit contacts all this time, Waiting on a referral that was pretty much nonexistent. I told California eye clinic that the place they referred me too, does not perform that surgery and they had actually argued with me on the phone That the referral they made is legit and that place does perform that surgery. So instead of arguing, I had the two places fax each other and confirm that the place they referred me too does not perform the surgery. So now my eyes are in a pretty bad condition and I’m referred to another clinic, Which did not go well it was a Clinic in Oakland that had zero notes or information about my eye condition and all they could do is a regular eye exam. At that point, my eyes are pretty bad. I’m unable to work, Pretty defeated very upset. And to top it all off when I finally asked to speak to someone higher up about my issues , They quite literally yelled at me on the phone spoke over me told me they did not want to hear what I had to say and said “ Do you wanna make Appointment or not” . And I do have this on record recording. So if you’re wondering how this office operates feel free To message me, I can send you the video.
