Dr Kumar is incredible but the wait times seem to be getting worse. My recent check up took over 90 minutes, most of that time sitting in waiting rooms.

Dr.Kumar is a wonderful ophthalmologist with in depth theoretical knowledge and perfect practical experience. He explains patiently the eye diseases and solutions and prognosis. I would recommend anyone who needs an eye specialist.

Dr. Amit Kumar is the top retinal surgeon in the area! He is wonderful at explaining your diagnosis and answers your questions. His office is busy but caring. He has helped my father with a very difficult dropped lens from cataract surgery, and dad is doing well! I recommend Dr. Kumar highly!

I have been seeing Dr. Kumar for several years. He first treated my brother for an eye stroke and severe bleeding in the other eye, leaving him blind for months. Dr. Kumar recommended a surgery with low odds of success, and my brother decided to take the chance. Thankfully, the surgery was successful, and he regained much of his vision. I have always had such great experiences at Dr Kumar office. Staff is so helpful and kind. I always feel like I have had a very thorough exam. Dr Kumar is the best.

I had my initial tests for upcoming cataract surgery. The receptionist were very pleasant as well as the technicians who performed the various tests. Dr Kumar was both personable and extremely caring in answering my questions and concerns. I was in and out within a reasonable 90 minutes which included time for my eyes to be dilated. Next I go in for fitting then schedule my surgery. I highly recommend this office.

After having a horrible experience at another retina center, I had a great experience here at Carolina Retina Institute, I was treated very well by the staff and not like cattle, unlike the other center. Dr. Kumar is attentive and provides as much information as you need. Recommended!

Another great experience with Dr Kumar and his staff. The nurse helped with pictures of my eyes she was very helpful. They listened to my needs and answered all my questions.

Carolina Retina Institute is where I received my eye care, and I truly felt safe in their hands. Dr. Kumar took excellent care of my retina tear. He made sure I understood everything that was happening, step by step, and he checked on me constantly to be sure I wasn’t in any pain. Eye appointments always take longer than expected but the staff are so friendly and helpful which makes time go faster. Dr.Kumar is very nice and always answers all my questions. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

He seems like a good doctor. Only five minutes spent with me but waited over an hour to see me. Patients stacked in top of each other. He did ñot knosbich visit I was at... confused. Staff was nice. Patients was there was very sick and kept coughing, not required to wear a mask. With having to wait so long afraid of being infected.

I was very pleased with the technician that efficiently took scans providing Dr. Kumar with the information needed to discuss information on my eye condition since my last visit. She was very efficient and her ability in doing her job was apparent to me. The front desk receptionist and the appointment person are always friendly and helpful. My experience on 5/11/2026 appointment was excellent, however I will note that the technician was new to me since my last visit. I rate her highly in every area of her work.

The staff was polite, but the wait time was over an hour past my appointment. A simple update or more realistic scheduling would really improve the patient experience.

Second visit...like everyone there. Dr. Kumar is very nice as is his staff. The practice I went to for years closed when doctor retired. Had to find a new practice. After doing research I feel I made the right choice by choosing Carolina Retina in Cary, NC.

I started coming here about 6 months ago at the recommendation of my rheumatologist for regular testing due to meds I have been taking for my condition. Everyone has been great the past two visits. You can expect friendly staff members, and they are very thorough, quick, and efficient despite being busy! Highly recommend.

I had an ocular migraine on Sunday. I called and left a message asking them if they can see me as soon as possible and told them what happened. They called me first thing Monday morning and were able to see me that day. I went in and everybody was awesome from the front staff all the assistance as well as Dr Kumar. I have been visiting this office for about 3 yrs n very satisfied, but on my last visit 11/24 had a couple tests n had eyes dilated before seeing Dr Kumar. He reviewed the tests n said “no changes” but didn’t look into my dilated eyes which I realized after having to drive home. arghhh So why dilate my eyes? Other than this recent experience I’ve had excellent outcomes after 2 surgeries.

From the time you enter his practice receptionists are very friendly. His professionalism is amazing and he actually takes the time to talk to you about your concerns. problems and how to go about treating them. I have been his patient since he first started his practice.

I had such a wonderful experience at my first appointment with Dr. Kumar and his staff. Every single one of the staff members were friendly and communicated very openly with me throughout the entire process. The staff explained how long initial appointments typically take so that I could plan my schedule accordingly and were honest with me about wait times during my appointment. I was in and out within a reasonable time and they made sure to remain considerate of the fact that I was self pay and estimated costs prior to my arrival. Dr. Kumar was very professional and took the time to educate me on my diagnosis. I am proud to be a patient here.
