Dr. Catherine Chickos is a great optometrist! I have been going to her for about 5 years and want to leave her a well-deserved great review. In addition to regular eye exams and prescriptions for glasses and contacts, she is very knowledgeable about eye injuries. I’ve had to consult her twice for an honest opinion on an eye injury, and she has been spot on both times. On top of her thorough knowledge, she is super friendly, personable, and accommodating. She really listens and was incredibly thorough in getting both my glasses and contact lens prescriptions exactly right. I have had so many positive experiences with her—much better than at the big vision centers. I highly recommend her!

After looking, talking to friends, and along with comparing with other eye doctors; I was pleased with Chickos before meeting with her. Durning the appointment, I enjoy her on a personal and professional level. She was very well informed/educated and talked different options that would be best for me. I truly felt her passion she has for her clients. Can’t wait till my next appointment, even if it a few years away. She had a wonderful and friendly front office manger, I felt as if I was visiting an old friend while I waited (since I was early to my appointment). I loved her different office hours, made it easy for an 8-5 worker to schedule an appointment without having to use PTO.

I went to see Dr. Mauro at Costco last November for my first contact exam and fitting. I expressed to her that the contacts she prescribed poked my left eye pretty badly, and she said it shouldn’t feel that way but still dismissed it and said to come back another time if it continued to hurt but I should get used to it. The contact in that eye was always blurry and painful. I returned a few weeks later expressing I had given it a shot but it still hurt. She then prescribed another type, which worked better. I don’t feel the vision is great but at least it was not quite as uncomfortable. I attempted to order the lenses through Costco, but they rejected my order stating the lenses did not match my prescription. Dr. Mauro did not change my prescription in the chart. Visit #3 today was unsuccessful as I waited around to just have Dr. Mauro sign the correct prescription, and when she came out of her office, would not take 2 seconds to sign it without helping the next customer. Frustrated, with two toddlers and $700 of groceries in the car, I had to leave. Hopefully visit number FOUR will produce a prescription that I paid for 6 months ago. All I have wanted for months and months are just correct contacts that fit. All of these issues should have been resolved at the $130 initial exam. I should not have to return four times to achieve the outcome that should have been achieved the first visit if she had not been trying to hurry me along. If you are looking for a good optometrist to try contact lenses, do not go here.

Dr. Mauro exhibited professionalism and hospitality. It was a wonderful experience of shadowing her!

Very helpful and always willing to work me into the schedule if time allows. Good span of open hours compared to some of the other Costco locations that have semi-retired opticians operating there. Not rushed at all, only minor issue I've had is kind of a catch-22 - she's got so much business it can get crowded at times in the front waiting area but the building is provided and owned by Costco so it's not really anything that's in her realm of control. Schedule an appointment as it gets busy, just be aware insurance is not taken at this location at this time.

Dr. Chickos did a very thorough exam and went above and beyond to get my prescription just right as a gal with pretty severe astigmatism in one eye. Her office is somewhat old school but they were able to get me in quicker than any other optometrist I tried. She also recommended I go back to a previous ophthalmologist for an issue I’d dealt with years ago. Overall, would definitely recommend!!

Dr. Mauro Chickos is a wonderful optometrist. I had an issue with my eye that needed to be checked and she was able to fit me in. So appreciative to her and her staff. Very kind and caring doctor, and I’m happy I found her.

I have been seeing Dr. M. Chickos since she was Dr. Mauro working solo without an office assistant. I am pretty sure that our relationship goes back at least 15+ years when Costco first opened. She has always been kind, patient and courteous to me and worked to fit me in non-standard contact lenses that worked better than what I had used in the past. She even took the time to train me on how I could better handle and insert/remove my lenses which no other optometrist had done since fitting me for contacts. On more than a few occasions she has worked me in for an exam without an appointment. Besides just checking my vision for glasses and contacts, she alerted me to a medical problem and suggested that I see an ophthalmologist. And I did indeed need minor surgery so I appreciate her suggestion for that. For cash pay customers her charges are and have always been very reasonable. She has never pushed me towards a particular lens supplier and will write a paper script that you can take to anyone including online. Highly recommend.

I have been very happy with Dr. Chickos since I started seeing her about 10 years ago. I started seeing her because she was conveniently located next to Costco. I continue seeing her because she's not only a fine optometrist, as her prescriptions when translated into glasses are good, but she has recommended an excellent optician and an excellent cataract surgeon. Our entire family uses her for our optometry needs.
