0 stars, if I could.
I called CHOC Ophthalmology to schedule an appointment and explained my 4 month old daughter’s symptoms. They scheduled us over a month out. I even called a week before my appointment to confirm the time, and no one mentioned there would be any issue with my appointment.
Then, just 3 days before the appointment, Veronica called to say the doctor had reviewed my daughter’s case and realized she needed to see a different specialist who treats babies her age.
What I don’t understand is why this wasn’t caught when I first made the appointment. I provided my daughter’s age and symptoms from the beginning. If she needed a different specialist, that should have been determined before making us wait over a month.
Instead, they pushed our appointment another 2 months out.
I asked to speak with a supervisor and was transferred to Suzanna, but she wasn’t helpful or empathetic. I explained that my daughter has congenital glaucoma and I wasn’t asking for surgery or a complex evaluation just a simple eye pressure check to make sure her eyes were responding to treatment. That’s the least they could do for me for the inconvenience. We had already waited over a month, and instead of trying to help, they expected us to wait even longer.
I chose CHOC because of its reputation for pediatric care, but this experience was incredibly disappointing. If your child has an urgent eye condition, be prepared to advocate for them, because our experience showed very little urgency, communication, or compassion.

It was hard to get in but well worth the wait. Great place. Satisfied. You can your bring your kid here with confidence.
