I had come here for 4-5 years under my parents insurance with no issues and returned to purchase glasses on my own plan. They helped pick out glasses for me after finding my new insurance in their system. My insurance is listed on their website and the sales associate submitted a claim but failed to inform me the benefit was out-of-network. The glasses ended up costing almost double what they would have at a covered provider. I called less than 24 hrs after my visit to cancel the order when I realized my glasses weren’t covered and they said I could do that but that I would be charged a 30% restocking fee. They said they “informed” me of this, but they only said that in the context of me ordering frames they didn’t currently have in stock. The frames I purchased were in stock at their practice, so there should be no restocking fee. The person on the phone was rude and pretty much gaslit me when I explained what happened. They told me my insurance was “in network” but it was my medical insurance, not my vision. That’s not how vision insurance evens works. I would have appreciated greater transparency throughout the buying process. They should also clarify on their website what insurances they accept. I have filed a complaint with my insurance company for false advertising. It’s unfortunate because Dr. Black is a great optometrist, but it feels like they are running a shady business.

My family and i discovered Couture Vision about 5 years ago, somewhat reluctantly. Since that time we are convinced that Dr. Black and his team features one of the very best eye care organizations in the western suburbs- after trying numerous big box eye glass operations. I emphasize the CARE portion as the thorough examinations and recommendations help minimize eye worries and offer confidence for the future. Their personalized appointments help me understand any year to year changes in vision i may be experiencing with personal care & direction. When new eye wear is required, again that one on one touch emerges to assure satisfaction. My family and I heartily endorse this business and it’s entire professional team!
