Dr. Nickell is amazing. She is the best eye doctor I have ever taken my kiddos to! Kind, caring, listens, excellent bedside manner- just the best!

UPDATE- Got fed up and requested a reschedule and I was only then told about Dr. Young having to deal with a patient emergency. It would have been nice to have been told before waiting almost 2 hours to see the doctor. Now got to make the hour drive back home just to have to come back next week. Still very annoyed. My son's appointment was at 11 AM, we were on time. It is now 12:30 PM and still no sign of the doctor. Very annoyed. Wish I could take my child to Cincinnati Cincinnati Children's instead, at least its closer to us. Also the last few appointments have been a nightmare due to their billing department being rude and unwilling to listen. Had to file a grievance against this place with my insurance.

The people are very rude

I brought my daughter in for glasses and Latania was so helpful and very kind !

I came into the Dayton Children’s eye clinic with my kids’ prescriptions expecting a quick, simple visit. Instead, I was met by an employee named Betty, and the experience was shockingly unprofessional. From the moment we approached the counter, she was rude, dismissive, and visibly irritated — not just with me, but with my young children. She acted as if we didn’t deserve care simply because our prescriptions came from another provider, which is unacceptable anywhere, but especially in a children’s hospital. What bothered me most was how she interacted with my kids. Her tone and attitude made it clear she didn’t want to help us. That was the moment I picked up our prescriptions and left. No parent should ever have to question whether their child is being mistreated by someone who works in pediatrics. If this is the first impression families get when they walk through the door, this location is going to develop a very bad reputation. What should have been a quick stop to order glasses turned into a stressful and upsetting experience for me and my children. Thankfully, we still needed glasses, and after another appointment in the hospital, we decided to give the clinic one more chance — hoping we wouldn’t run into the same person or, at the very least, be treated with basic respect. I’m so glad we did, because this time we were helped by Latania, and she completely turned our experience around. She was everything you hope to find in a children’s hospital: kind, patient, warm, and genuinely good with kids. My children can be indecisive, and she handled them with so much grace. She helped them try on frames, explained things clearly, and even gave my son a few helpful contact lens tips since he struggles with them. She went above and beyond in every way — • She made my kids feel comfortable and valued • She treated us with patience and respect • She answered every question without rushing us • She restored our trust in this location Honestly, Latania deserves Employee of the Month every month this year, and a raise seventeen times over for 2026. She is the reason we will return. If you visit this clinic, I truly hope you get someone like her. Just to be clear. My 5 stars are solely for the recovery Latania did for this business in my eyes and she never had a clue of my bad experience so she genuinely earned 5 stars. If I hadn't tried again this would have been a 1 star review based on Betty.

The doctors were lovely but the lady running the glasses shop was very rude to me and my 4 year old. So we’re taking our glasses purchase elsewhere. She told him not to touch any of the glasses because then she would have to clean them and then asked if I even had insurance.

Dr. Young is amazing. All of our interactions with her were filled with kindness and she showed unprecedented humility to work with other specialists along with confidence in her own skill level. She took time to explain all the rationale for the decisions she made with wisdom and compassion. I hope Dayton Children's Hospital knows what a gem they have in their Ophthalmology Department.

Our daughter was cared for by Luxme Hariharan. She was extremely thorough, kind, and helpful. I can't say enough about this amazing Dr.!

Absolutely wonderful!! I am so thankful for how you guys helped me through this appointment with my son who has autism. Anyone with children on the spectum, these people have your back and will do their best to make the appointment as comfortable for your child as possible Thank you all so much!
