For the course of my son’s treatment we were able to see Marbert Picott as my son’s therapist. She was amazing! My 9 year old son adored her and is sincerely sad to not get to see her every week (we graduated from therapy!). Marbert’s attention to my son’s individual needs and accommodations made each session an engaging, challenging, and rewarding time. Words can not express how thankful we are for her! I would evaluate this facility for Dr. Westscott’s exceptional care and knowledge of developmental vision needs I would give it a 5/5. I have been searching for a doctor who could discuss with me the problems my son was facing. Dr. Westscott identified the problems and developed a therapeutic plan to help my son. He was able to find issues that no other doctor could pinpoint and develop a plan to overcome them. Thank you for all you do!

My son had significant trouble reading since he was little. I always chalked it up to him having a more technology oriented brain. On the advice of an educational psychologist, I had him evaluated by Dr. Westcott and discovered his reading issues weren't a lack of skill but rather two forms of eye dysfunction -- binocular and saccadic. He started therapy last February and what a difference it has made! As a parent, it makes me want to cry thinking how difficult and frustrating it must have been for him. With Dr. Westcott, Gayle and Katherine's help, my son is now reading at level with a fluency and comprehension that I never thought possible. You have to be committed to the weekly visits and the nightly exercises, but it is certainly worth every effort you make. Dr. Westcott and his therapists are not only skilled at what they do, but they are good people who truly want the best for their patients. Thank you Developmental Vision Care team!

I cannot say enough good things about Developmental Vision Care. Dr. Wescott and his staff (We especially loved Ms. Julie and Ms. Annemarie) changed my child's life. All along we knew that our daughter was bright - but there were big issues in reading and writing. A school psychologist had heard Dr. W speak and suggested I looked into vision therapy. Dr. W gave my daughter a very thorough examination and recommended eye therapy. We don't live in Chesapeake - we live in the Outer Banks - but we drove up weekly for a year and a half - completely worth it. My daughter is reading on grade level and doing well in school. Dr W. and Julie taught my daughter to take ownership of her learning and her vision correction. As a teacher, watching this process was fascinating and I hope the practice of eye therapy becomes mainstream, because it truly was a game changer for my daughter - and our family!
