I Can See Clearly Now! “I can see clearly now, the rain is gone. I can see all obstacles in my way…” Those lyrics have been playing in my head ever since my cataract surgeries because, for the first time in years, they truly describe how I feel. For years my vision gradually declined without me fully realizing how much I had adapted to it. I struggled with night driving because of severe glare from oncoming headlights. I even ran over curbs while parking. Driving from Houston to Dallas meant hours of squinting. Playing soccer, I always had to keep the sun behind me or shield my eyes with one hand. If someone stood with the sun or bright lights behind them, I could only see their silhouette—I couldn’t make out their eyes or even their facial features. Throughout this journey, Dr. Jenny Nguyen has been everything you hope for in an optometrist: knowledgeable, compassionate, honest, and patient. Several years ago, she diagnosed my cataracts correctly but did not recommend surgery because she believed it should only be done when my quality of life or safety became affected. That honesty earned my complete trust. This year, it did become a safety issue. When I asked Dr. Nguyen who she would recommend, she didn’t hesitate—she referred me to Dr. Colby Stewart at Houston Eye Associates. That recommendation gave me tremendous confidence. I also want to recognize Kristin at Direct EyeCare. She coordinated my referral and appointments flawlessly and made the entire process effortless. Together, Dr. Nguyen and Kristin are an exceptional team—professional, courteous, caring, and genuinely committed to their patients. Today, after cataract surgery on both eyes, I can drive at night without the debilitating glare. The haziness is gone. Colors are brighter. Everything looks like I’ve upgraded from standard definition to high definition. I’m even writing this review without reading glasses—something I couldn’t have imagined just a few weeks ago. What I especially appreciate is the partnership between Dr. Nguyen and Dr. Stewart. Dr. Stewart restored my vision through surgery, and Dr. Nguyen continues to provide my primary eye care. It is a perfect example of two independent physicians working together and putting the patient first. Dr. Nguyen has also cared for my sister’s family for more than ten years, and now I completely understand why they trust her so much. Thank you, Dr. Jenny Nguyen and Kristin, for your professionalism, your honesty, your kindness, and for changing my quality of life. I truly can sing from the top of my lungs: “I can see clearly now, the rain is gone…”

I've been seeing Dr. Jenny over a decade. She's wonderful. Infact, my first visit with her, she saw deposits on my eyes and told me to get my cholesterol checked, which I did luckily. My prior eye doctors never mentioned this health concern.

I was recommended Direct Eyecare after multiple family members came here and had great service. At my appointment, Dr Nguyen took her time with me and was very thorough in the exam, explaining my options, and answering questions. The front desk assistant, Kristen, was very helpful in finding glasses that would look good on me and processing my insurance claim. I highly recommend Direct Eyecare, and I’ve recommended it to others.

I have been going for years and Dr Nguyen is always very friendly and answers all my questions. Excellent operating hours makes it easy with a busy schedule. I have only had one problem which was due to a manufacturing defect on my wife's lenses, but Dy Nguyen worked with the manufacturer and made it right very quickly and got us a replacement. :)

Went for an eye exam. Dr was professional, pleasant, and explained everything very well. Assistant was professional, welcoming, and amusing. Good experience overall and I will return.

If I could I would give it a zero. I had to return some glasses because they were irregular. I’m not sure why but they fit crooked. I just couldn’t wear. I spent about 1-2 hours trying to get it returned and the dr began talking to me sarcastically. Not very nice to elderly. Then she wanted to charge a fee for returning glasses. OMG Just don’t go there 😡😡😡😡😡

Dr. Nguyen is fantastic. Very kind, patient, and explains everything well. My new prescription glasses are great and Kristen at the front desk was very instrumental in helping me choose my frames! Also, they were both very helpful with my medicare and went out of their way to fill out a comprehensive form I needed to submit. Something they were not required to do, but took time and did so anyway!

I recently brought my 91 year old mother to Dr. Nguyen for an eye exam. She was very thorough and answered all my mother's questions. She also treated my mother for dry eye and gave her suggestions on how to care for this condition. I would highly recommend Dr Nguyen to family and friends.

Excellent service. Not shamed for waiting years for new glasses. Definitely pleasant and fast. Frames reasonably priced.

Family friendly atmosphere and excellent service. I'm usually able to be seen the same day that I call for service and I'm in and out in less than an hour. Dr. Nguyen and her staff are always helpful and informative. I highly recommend this office!!!

I've been going here for 3 years and always receive professional service from Dr. Nguyen and her front desk assistant Kelly. Can get an appointment when you need one and wait time is minimal.
