Dr. Amanda Salter did my first cataract surgery today and it was seamless! I have owned a successful business in the area for 27 years, and can say without hesitation that you can judge the leader by the strength, talent, and dedication of their staff. Dr. Salter was warm and professional and her staff are all engaging, smart, and great communicators. Trust your eyes to this team of professionals. I'll be back in two weeks for eye #2.

Went to Dr. Salter for the first time, and everyone at the office was incredibly friendly and helpful. Melissa did the initial examine and she was so funny and thorough. Dr. Salter was so kind and helpful. Highly recommend.

I had the absolute pleasure of meeting & being examined by Dr. Amanda B. Salter, M.D. at Shanbom Eye Specialists on November 21, 2022. The entire experience was one hundred percent positive. My initial call to Shanbom Eye Specialist was to inquire whether Dr. Salter was accepting new patients. The telephone representative was not only welcoming and enthusiastic about my inquiry, she was kind enough to send me all the forms that would help make my visit more productive. The person offered suggestions of what additional information would be helpful to Dr. Salter. Additionally, she helped me schedule an appointment that would be convenient for me. Upon entering the facility, I was cheerfully greeted and told what to expect of the visit. The person who first examined my eyes and refracted them, Bethany, was polite, amazingly cheerful and thoroughly explained what each item she did involved and the reason for the test. After a very short wait, I was greeted by Dr. Salter. Before beginning my examination, she was kind enough to take time to study the rather long list of eye problems that I brought from a previous ophthalmologist. She also was considerate enough to ask me what eye & vision problems I had. Dr. Salter also inquired about certain items on the list. These few things immediately impressed upon me that my vision was in very capable & caring hands. Dr. Salter carefully examined my eyes and explained the meanings & ramifications of each item on the previous clinician's list. Her recommendations for what to test and what to address were very well considered and thoroughly explained. She also explained her findings completely & in a manner which I could understand. (Dr. Salter is an excellent teacher.) I found her approach to be conservative, but very careful. There were no "panic to address" items at this time. Each abnormality of my eyes will be re-evaluated after a certain time, comparing against today's status. Again, I was quite impressed by her professionalism, care and thoughtfulness. Surprisingly, I was offered the option to either have Dr. Salter supply a prescription for corrective lenses, based on Bethany's refraction, or to go to an in-network optometrist of my choosing, thus saving me the very reasonable Shambom Eye Specialist refraction fee. There was no pressure. I chose to ask for Dr. Salter's review of the refraction and for her to supply the prescription. By doing this, I can be assured that the prescription will provide the best possible vision for me. (Note that some vision insurances will reimburse the subscriber for that fee upon submission.) The status of my cataracts was explained well and Dr. Salter explained benefits of addressing them now versus the benefits of waiting. We discussed symptoms related to cataracts and she offered her suggestions. There was no pressure to have eye surgery now. (I chose to try the prescription for corrective lenses will provide vision to suit me needs, thus postponing cataract surgery for a while.) Dr Salter's caring & thoroughness then impressed me once again: She offered to obtain my records from the previous ophthalmologist and examine them against today's findings. That's something I've never before encountered by any medical professional. After my appointment, the people I dealt with at the main desk were just as impressive as everyone else I met. I certainly appreciated that my invoice was explained and that I received an itemized copy for insurance & tax purposes. I absolutely will remain a patient of Dr. Salter's and certainly will ask her to perform all eventual surgeries on my eyes. I have complete trust in Dr. Salter and her entire staff. For careful, knowledgeable and safe eye health, I can't recommend Dr. Salter highly enough.
