I am wholly convinced that Dr. Marciano saved the vision in my right eye. I have Sjogren's Syndrome (an autoimmune disease that, among other things, causes severe dry eyes). I woke during the night unable to open my right eye (from the dryness) and wound up ripping the top layer of my cornea, causing am unbearably “stabbing” painful situation. By the time I saw him two days later, I had an infection (I didn't call right away because I figured it was an autoimmune issue and had to suffer through it; I didn't realize I ripped my cornea). The vision in my right eye dropped to 20/60 with my glasses (when I could open it at all). He put me on four eyedrop medicines around-the-clock (every 15 minutes!) and saw me every day for almost two weeks (including Saturday, Sunday, and Memorial Day, when the office was closed). He adjusted my meds and dosage as needed and told me to call or text him if I needed him at any time. I honestly thought I would not regain my eyesight; it was so painful, and my vision was like looking through a terrible fog for many days. Even if the pain subsided briefly, there was an acute “burning” that prevented me from opening my eyes or even moving them side-to-side under my eyelids. I ask A LOT of questions, and Dr. Marciano patiently answered every one. He even drew me pictures to illustrate what was going on. Dr. Marciano is an incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and kind doctor. I am SO GRATEFUL to him for fixing my eyesight and suggesting we put punctal plugs in my eye ducts, which keep them from draining as quickly. (I am writing this two weeks post-situation, and the difference is incredible. I still need over-the-counter eyedrops many times each day, but with proper hydration, nutrition, and computer habits, I believe I will be able to manage my AI disease). I have been going to Dr. Marciano for countless years for my annual checkups (as does my son and mother, and my grandparents did, too, years ago). I trust him immensely. He shows his muscles when more than a checkup is needed every time. He is AMAZING. I give all the gold stars to Dr. Marciano, my eyecare quarterback. Forever thanks to you, Dr. Marciano!
