I am an ophthalmologist living in CT. My brother , who lives in Baltimore, has a history of retinal tears. He developed symptoms of a new tear and I urged him to be seen immediately. He was given a timely appointment, a new tear was identified and he was treated by Dr Thompson, whom I’ve never met, successfully the same day. I reviewed the records and was greatly impressed by his thoroughness and competence. I highly recommend him!! Dr Patricia Caton Reardon

Around 1Nov22, I experienced periodic flashes of light in the peripheral vision of my right eye; in addition, I presented with an increase from the usual # of floaters I'd already had. Having had laser surgery for a torn retina in my left eye about 1991, I had an established history of predisposition to this eye problem. I was seen by Dr. Thompson 45 hours after I first noticed symptoms, and was informed it was a moderate retinal tear that required immediate intercession. Here two months later, my floaters and flashes have diminished, and I believe it's been successfully resolved. I give ernest praise for both Dr. Thompson (and for Dr. Baranano who also saw me about 2017 for a very minute retinal tear), and the entire staff at GBMC's retinal specialty group. IMHO, they run a smooth operation, and undeniably rate 5 stars!

The Daffodil Garage is currently closed, so parking is not close. Plan a 2-3 min walk from Iris. $6 / 3hr. Valet $8. Arrive a few minutes early; this is a busy office. Take something to read. There is always a bit of a queue. Budget some extra wait and appointment time.

This place is HORRIBLE!! The wait time is ridiculous. If you have an appointment please don’t have anything else planned for your day. They give you an appointment time just to make you wait an additional hour and 15 minutes before being called. Please bring a snack, pillow, and blanket. The appointment time was 1245 pm. I arrived at 1215pm. It’s now 215 and I’m just being called. Schedule at your own risk!!! Needless to say, you have to pay for parking because it is on the campus of GBMC hospital.

Agreed...and arrogant staff as well! Dr. Thompsons integrity I feel is questionable. Look for another office for your best interest!

Doctor Thompson had saved my sight more than once..I have weak eyes and have been going to him for over 12 years..his staff has always been kind and friendly and I would and have recommended him to others..sometimes emergencies come up and the wait is longer but I’ve probably been one of those early morning surgeries so I’ll wait while he is providing care for someone else.

I have taken my mother to Dr. Thompson for years. He does provide excellent service, and the staff is professional and courtesy. But the wait time is extremely terrible. We get to the appointment at least 30 minutes or more prior to the appointment and still have to wait over a hour to be seen. For people who have health issues where they can't sit long imposes more health problems.🙁

Dr. Thompson is a brilliant, thorough, extremely knowledgeable retinal specialist. I called the office Saturday due to a potential retinal tear, and Dr. Thompson immediately called me back and saw me Saturday evening at 5 pm, which was the soonest I could be there after driving back from North Carolina because I trust him and this office alone with my eyesight. He not only checked my eye at issue but thoroughly checked my other eye. Cataract surgery by a different facility in Virginia a few years ago have caused me issues. He answered all my questions and put me at ease and dictated the detailed notes from the visit while I was there so I knew exactly what was going in the chart. There was also another lady who had an eye emergency, and he saw her right after me this Saturday evening. She thorougjly trusts this office also and was a current patient. I highly recommend Dr. Thompson for all of your retinal eye needs.

After conducting a careful, conscientious examination, Dr. Thompson located and laser treated a small tear in my ight retina. (I had no idea that the tear existed and was actually there about my left eye.) I consider myself fortunate to have been referred to Retina Specialists and to have been seen by Dr. Thompson. It is my considered opinion that the entire staff treats patients with professionalism and empathy. That's an impressive combination. If one must wait to their turn to be seen, it is truly worth the wait because it indicates that patients are not being rushed through.
