I had a very negative experience when returning to have my annual exam with Dr. Margarithe Gross at the Eye Center. My appointment was originally scheduled for December 2nd, but I was informed that I could call to check if there were available slots earlier. I called on November 1st and managed to get an appointment for November 5th at 9:10 AM. I was supposed to go to the office today but requested to work from home so I could attend the appointment. When I arrived there at 9:05 AM, I was told that my appointment had been canceled.
First, they asked me if I had canceled via SMS. I said no and showed them the SMS confirming the appointment. Then, I was informed that due to a system error, my appointment was canceled, or that there had been a double booking. They asked if I could wait to be “squeezed in” between two other appointments. I told them I could not wait, as they couldn’t give me an exact time for when I would be seen. I asked to be seen at my original appointment time—after all, why would the other patient be seen late, but I was the one being affected, especially when I had confirmation of my appointment?
They asked if I could return at 1 PM. I told them no, but I could come back at 3 PM or on Saturday, since I already had two other personal commitments during the week, which meant I would have to leave work. Mary Grace informed me that they no longer saw patients after 3 PM. Well, if the mistake wasn’t mine, why couldn’t they extend their hours? I need to work to pay for my health insurance and consequently for the doctor’s services. Doesn’t the Eye Center understand that? They were extremely inflexible and even told me that I was being inflexible. If the mistake was on their part, they should be flexible. If the electronic scheduling system doesn’t work, wouldn’t it be better to use paper scheduling instead?

I have been going to Dr Gross for many years. She is very kind, intelligent. I highly recommend her
Dr. Gross is incredible. She is very patient and personable. The front desk staff on the other hand is awful. The receptionist I made an appt with was apathetic and argumentative.
