Dr Fung is a great ophthalmologist! He listened to my vision concerns and he explained all my options very clearly. I recently underwent cataract surgery of both eyes and I now have very good vision. Thank you Dr Fung!!!

Prior to surgery, Dr. Fung answered all my questions and did not rush me. He is kind and even has a sense of humor! The results of both my eye surgeries were exactly as expected, and I couldn’t be happier.

Dr Fung is excellent. He performed a corneal cross-linking on me - I was referred to him after another ophthalmologist aborted my operation due to my eye-related phobia. My phobia was worked around seamlessly through all my visits, and my vision after a year is currently good, and stable. Thank you!!

I had the good fortune of having DMEK surgery with Dr. Fung. From our first meeting, I found him to be very compassionate and made sure to listen to my needs, worries, reservations, etc. He explained the surgery very carefully--from the reasons why I needed it, exactly how the procedure would be done, the recovery, and the results he hoped to get. I felt quite confident in my choices of both Stein Eye Institute and Dr. Fung. Stein is regarded as one of the 3 best eye centers in the USA. If that wasn't good enough, Dr. Fung trained at Moorfields in England, the top eye hospital in the world. As for the results--my eye went from 20/200 before DMEK to 20/50 afterwards.

Have been seeing Dr Fung for an eye issue related to a stem cell transplant Very knowledgeable in this area and has helped me with new options.I go every 4 months for follow ups and he is very through..

I was referred to Dr. Fung in June 2021 because a long-standing, complex cornea issue was not improving. From the outset, Dr. Fung made me feel like I was in the best of hands (literally, because he did the surgeries). Dr. Fung spent more time with me and covered more topics in detail with than any doctor I've seen in my 60+ years. My situation required an additional specialist, and Dr. Fung brought in the best at Jules Stein. Dr. Fung responds to messages promptly and thoroughly, has a great bedside manner, and a great sense of humor to boot. I couldn't recommend another cornea specialist/surgeon more highly.

Dr Fung is an extraordinary eye surgeon. I had cornea scarring in both eyes and have seen a number of Opthamologists who had no idea how it got there or how to improve my vision. This impacted the shape of my cornea and my vision had quickly deteriorated over a short period of time with a high degree of astigmatism. Dr Fung examined me and after careful review of cornea scans done at his office, he conclusively diagnosed that I had OPSCD. He suggested cornea surgery to remove the surface layer where the scarring was. The surface of the cornea would heal itself and improve my vision. I proceeded and we did one eye at a time. It’s been 3 months since surgery for 1 eye and 6 months for the other. My vision has completely been fixed and the surgeries went very well. I no longer have light sensitivity or deal with double, triple or quad vision, especially when driving at night and seeing the headlights from oncoming traffic. My vision is now nearly perfect and I don’t need to wear glasses. I could not be happier that I elected to have Dr Fung perform the cornea surgeries.

I had the pleasure of having Dr. Fung as my eye surgeon for both a cornea transplant as well as cataract surgery. I felt very fortunate to experience his meticulous attention to detail in his diagnosis of my rare condition. Dr. Fung was also prepared with several options for approaching solutions to correct my issues as well both long term and short term. Although, I’ll admit that the UCLA appointment scheduling system is challenging to say the least, my experience with Dr. Fung, Dr. Heilwell, Dr. Sam & the whole staff left me feel cared for, respected and supported. I’d highly recommend all of my doctors and UCLA Stein Eye Center for treatment of degenerative eye issues for you or your family.

Dr. Fung is a analytical, articulate, and patient doctor. He has worked for years with me and my parents to ensure I would have the best eyesight possible through a lense implant surgery which has given me vision without cataract glasses or hard contacts for the first time in my life. Due to being born blind, my mother became very heavily involved in appointments, Dr. Fung recognized the situation, attended to her needs while also involving and advocating for me. It is rare to find a doctor like him. I am beyond grateful for his wisdom and kindness. You will not find another doctor like him!
