It was so easy! No stress—and usually it’s been stressful…like most my life. Dr. NG was very patient. And as a result my vision won’t be compromised. The optometrist was extremely capable. Chris was patient as well. We spent almost 3 hours selecting the right configuration of frames/lenses. He was respectful of my time when people who didn’t have an appointment wanted to suck up my time. I dislike it when other customers use the time I’ve set aside. What typically happens is that the person waiting on me will drop everything for the other customer when then I was already first—not here. If you’re one of those clients who skip ahead of other people and wait, you’ll have to wait. If you’re a customer who values being seen as a priority, then you’ve come to the right place. So, I felt like a customary, “first come, first serve.” They have optometrists who speak Spanish, and the view is pleasant because it overlooks Union Square. The selection has improved at Lens Crafters, and the equipment is more updated than Costco. That said, while I get a great eye exam and affordable lenses at Costco, there’s always this “heavy” oppressive energy and the smell of hotdogs and cocktail shrimp in the air at Costco. And it’s always crowded—optometry and exam. I thought it would be harsh going in through Macy’s but it’s a quick walk from Powell Street BART up to Union Square. A relief. I’m a raging introvert so it’s nice to get away to a quiet spot of a department store. I recommend doing early to beat the afternoon crowds. Amenities: The bathrooms are downstairs near the escalator side. After frame shopping you can get a glass of wine at the wine bar on the 3rd floor or Starbucks.
