We have been seeing dr. Ellwein for years. He has helped my daughter to strengthen the muscles in her eye and improve her tracking. When we first started seeing him he was in Mitchell and even though we lived west river we continued to see him even after he moved to Sioux Falls.

Dr Ellwein needs to rethink his staff. It's very unfortunate. My husband loves him as a Dr. But his staff is rude and could care less what you have to say. They are right no matter what. Lost a good customer with great insurance 😒 …

This was the kindest most considerate man when I brought my mother of 86 years in to see him last year! Heading back in next week to see him again and look forward to seeing him and the kind staff that are working with him!

Was extremely rude. Poor customer service and I’ve changed eye Dr’s since. The first time I went to him, I thought maybe he was having a bad day but I went back the year after and I got the same treatment. It was like he hated life and everyone in it. My husband got the same treatment as well. We now go to a Dr that’s helpful and friendly

I had such an awesome experience with this optometrist in the past but as 2026 it is completely different and my opinion changed. They are completely careless about patients. In March I tried to scheduled an appointment they were so full that I had to schedule for April 11th. Then, they called me to cancel and reschedule for April 25th... got canceled again and I was told in a message you are welcome to schedule an appointment "elsewhere"... that is how much they care about their patients. After waiting a month and understanding that it had to be reschedule... not going back here ever and hope I save some time to someone.

Dr. Ellwein and staff have provided Amazing Services on more than one occasion. Thank you! God Bless.

Dr. Ryan has been our family Optometrist for over a decade. He is very personable and professional. We have two kids in contacts/glasses that play sports and he has REALLY gone above and beyond in helping them when we need a quick solution! Highly recommend!!!

I have gotten my eyes checked by Ryan a few times over the years. He is personable and easy going and does a great job. They fit me into there day quickly and I was able to get glasses next door right away! Very clean store and helpful staff at the front desk. Ryan is a great eye doctor! 🥸😎🤓 …

Dr. Ellwein is a fine optometrist and a man of integrity. The only weakness in his office were the two young ladies in the front who can be more welcoming to his patients.

He and his staff are great! He has quickly became my families optometrist. He helped us all quickly and thoroughly. He was great with my daughter and her lazy eye and other issues. I would recommend him to anyone!
