We love Dr. Ricks! He is incredibly knowledgeable and so kind as he delivers care for my eyes! Excel Eye Center has been perfect for us. I’ve received different services there from three different doctors and they’ve all been wonderful. The team they have assembled there , from the technicians to the schedulers have all been incredibly helpful, efficient and delivered customer service at the highest level. We couldn’t recommend them more!

Dr. Schmutz is very professional and always willing to answer questions and address concerns. I appreciate his knowledge in understanding my more complicated condition. Additionally, the other staff members are friendly and helpful and courteous.

Came in with my partner, who is a person of color and needed an eye exam. Absolutely horrible experience. They never made eye contact with him and kept trying to talk to me.. I wasn’t even there for me! Had to fill out some paperwork and they practically just threw it in his face. He said the exam was extremely unenjoyable as well. Unacceptable. If they treat their PAYING customers like this I can’t imagine what the employees are going through. I will never be coming here again. Should’ve known.. they’ve only got bad reviews on yelp.

I've had a good experience there before, but since my insurance changed I called over the phone and they said they would take it. But in office they told me they don't take vision insurance, only health insurance. That should have been explained over the phone. I cancelled the appointment.

The Excel Eye Center staff truly care about ensuring that their patients have the best possible experience in supporting their eye care! Not only do they demonstrate immense expertise in their services, but they also show a very high level of compassion. Raquel, Emily and Dr. Lambert took such good care of me during my eye exam. They answered all my questions and listened to everything I had to say. 10 out of 10 would recommend.

I highly recommend Excel Eye Center. I have had both lasik and prk at their office in Provo and have been extremely happy with my results and the care that I received. Raquel is a nice and friendly face at the front desk, and Dr. Ricks is one of the best in the business.

We love Dr.Gunther and his team! They are so professional, personable and considerate…and, yes, they take great care of our eyes! Patient for years and we know him/them. They are reliable, prompt and responsive. See him/them for all of your eye care needs!!!!

I had my semi annual eye appointment with Joshua J. Hansen, MD, at Excel Eye in Provo today. The appointment consisted of everything you’d expect during an eye appointment. But instead of rushing off to see his next patient after seeing me, he asked me questions that made me feel comfortable asking him questions about the health of my eyes. And then he took the time to show me the images that had been taken of my retinas and explained what he was concerned about and what I can do better. No ophthalmologist has ever taken the time to do that with me. It made me feel that I was not just another appointment for Dr Hansen and that he wanted me to understand the health of my eyes. Dr Hansen is the best!

We've been going to Excel Eye Center for many years with God experiences overall. Saw Dr Joshua Hansen recently for an excellent eye exam.

I checked with my insurance and they directed me to this place for an eye exam. I called the office as well and they said they are in network. I told them to their face in office that I have a free eye exam each year and they confirmed it. Only to be billed 4 months later for $200 because they informed me that they do not in fact take my insurance. I talked to their billing department and they refused to do anything to fix the situation. Do not go here, over charge and scammers

Dr. Loveless has managed my scleral lenses for keratoconus with meticulous attention to detail, making precise adjustments over time to ensure my lenses are as optimal for me as possible. He clearly takes great pride in his work and is consistently kind, patient, and attentive, making it genuinely a pleasure to be under his care. When my lens unexpectedly shattered, he accommodated me on short notice, which I greatly appreciated. He’s the best! Dr. Wilkinson, my ophthalmologist, has been exceptional. His treatment for my keratoconus has been life-changing, and his thoroughness, clear communication, and excellent follow-up reflect an outstanding standard of care. He was also incredibly helpful with the documentation required for my military accession, going above and beyond throughout the process. Although my diagnosis initially felt overwhelming, the team took the time to guide me through every step, ensuring I felt informed, supported, and confident in my care. The entire team is professional and welcoming—from check-in with Kenna to front desk assistance by Raquel. I highly recommend Excel Eye Center, especially for patients with complex corneal conditions.
