We always feel at home getting our vision care at ECOA. Yesterday was our routine exam and 2 days before was my medical aspect testing. Both days were greeted by cordial professionals from check-in, check-out, exams and optical department We can now rest at ease.

I have been a patient at the Eye Clinic of Austin for at least 23 years. At least. I truly don't recall when I first came here. I can't recommend as their billing and insurance staff who are completely unprofessional! The billing and insurance staff didn't take any responsibility to submit a prior authorization request or communicate with the health plan until the day before my scheduled surgery. A simple but required step. I had a bad feeling. So, I emailed one week before my surgery. I was nervous because nothing had come in the mail from my insurance about prior authorization. The staff didn't respond to my email. The billing and insurance staff sent the authorization to insurance the day before my 1st surgery. And, it was only done because I had called and insisted they do so immediately when I found out it had not been done yet. Their excuse was they are "busy and understaffed" in the billing and insurance department. Even though I begged my insurance to rush prior authorization, the insurance company did not approve by 9am today. If I had gotten the surgery this afternoon, without getting that prior authorization, it would have cost me thousands! Never coming here ever again. 😡

Generally excellent care, although the haste of all the appointments is apparent and sometimes limits conversation. I only learned during this final appointment that there may be post-op scarring from the cataract surgery, down the line. I'm not alarmed by the prospect -- Dr. Prosise assured me that it can be readily remedied -- but it seems that should be something I was informed of at the beginning of the process. All in all, I have been pleased with the Clinic care, but somewhat disheartened by the haste of the entire process from beginning to end. I realize y'all do many of these procedures and they are routine for you, but for the patients they are not routine at all, and a little less haste in personal interactions seems optimum.
