Dr. Catherine Chen is a board-certified, fellowship trained pediatric ophthalmologist in private practice since 1999. Her practice focuses on the comprehensive evaluation and treatment of eye conditions in children, as well as medical and surgical treatment of eye muscle disorders in adults. She completed her fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles and residency at Yale University Medical Center.

To start off, if it wasn’t for the sign on the front of the building, we wouldn’t have even known we were in the right place. You walk in and there’s no indication that this is a pediatric doctor’s office. Nothing on the walls, nothing to entertain the kids (toys, tv, etc), and just overall not a friendly environment to walk into, especially for kids. Dr. Chen was fine. She was nice enough, but wasn’t very patient with our 14 month old. We took our daughter in to have her eyes looked at for some concerns we were having, and they had to dilate her eyes. Dr. Chen advised that after she put the drops in to dilate them, to not allow our daughter to rub her eyes (practically impossible with a 14 month old). Of course, our daughter’s hands went straight for her eyes because they were irritated and she had been crying, and Dr. Chen got frustrated with both us as her parents and with our daughter for rubbing her eyes. We did the best we could to not allow her to rub them, but again, pretty much impossible with a very upset baby. We also felt pretty rushed (somewhat understandable as we know she’s trying to see as many patients as possible). Overall, 2 stars because we got what we needed done, but wouldn’t go back.
