I have been one of Dr. Luria's patients since 2017 and having my vision checked is actually one of my favorite things to do because not only is Dr. Luria super knowledgable, he's also personable and gets to his patients. I *also* love selecting new frames - thanks to their awesome selection. I wear progressives and absolutely need eyeglasses to navigate the world. As a costume designer and creative entrepreneur, it's important to me that my frames reflect my artistic interests and learning about the craftsmanship of each pair of frames has really made me value them even more. Over the years the team at Eye Q Optical have helped me pick out frames, they know what size and shape I'm most likely going to gravitate to and they suggest new shapes and colors I may not have considered. I took a photo of all seven of the frames I've invested in - two of them have polarized lenses so I can enjoy the sunniest days and still see. People always compliment me on my frames and I'm happy to share that they, too, can find the best frames locally!

Eye Q has been one of the best discoveries in my move down to the Boston area. Steve and Claire specifically have been tremendously helpful, responsive, personable, and enjoyable throughout the 3 years I’ve been going there. I’ve had my fair share of stupid moments with my glasses and each and every time, Steve has saved the day. The store as a whole is always clean, well kept, and has a great soundtrack going in the background. Dr. Dave’s eye exams were also the most thorough I’ve had and he was able to detect the most minute changes in my vision that other places never caught. In case it wasn’t obvious, “eye” would recommend Eye Q to any and everyone. Thank you to Steve, Claire, and Dr. Dave for always making that trip out to Cambridge productive and positive.

I was looking for any Optometrist to give me an Eye Exam for renewing my Driver's License, so I picked Eye Q Optical because it also happened to be next to some of my favorite restaurants in Harvard Square. The day I walked in, I found the interior to be comfortable and neat, and didn't feel overwhelmed by an infinite amount of glasses stands & glasses when I recall my time as a child accompanying my parents or siblings to get their own prescriptions. The clerk, Mr. Blue (or Bleu? He had no name tag) answered my questions about insurance coverage, and helped set me up for an appointment the next day at noon. However, I realized I should also double check with my insurer, and the service representative clarified there is often confusion between Commercial & Federal Blue Cross Blue Shield. It turns out that due to my family switching our plan recently, we were no longer covered for routine eye exams. So the next day, the lady at the desk tried to help locate my status in their system, and we learned because I am no longer a full time student, I don't receive any vision benefits. However, they stated that they could send the bill to the insurer, in the hopes that I will receive a reduced co-pay for the eye-exam. I was very happy to hear about this, since I was already willing to pay the full out-of-pocket price, it would be a bonus if the insurer accepts the process! As for the actual eye examination, my doctor was Dr. Bamal (I hope I got the name right!), and thanks to his outstanding enthusiasm and knowledge, I feel like I had the most interesting and exciting eye exam to date. I also learned a lot about how the eye works, and corrected some gaps in my peripheral knowledge (from the internet & wikipedia, haha) The machines too were very cool.
