The doctor was friendly and got me in quickly...But after after my exam, a short older Hispanic lady was supposed to help me look at some pairs of glasses that my insurance (which is Medi-cal) covered. She left me standing there for about 10 minutes, and it wasn't like there were any other patients in the office. Once I picked out the frames that my insurance would cover and I liked, she informed me that my insurance wouldn't cover those because the Doctor has added "special lenses" onto my prescription. This was without asking/telling me...I've worn glasses for 14 years and never had or been told that I needed bifocals. I informed the woman that I didn't need that, and therefore didn't want it on my prescription. She got an attitude immediately and told me "well that's what the doctor said you need and she's writing the prescription". I told her again I wanted it off, and she took it to the doctor to remove it. I came back to pick up my glasses a few weeks later, and the same woman helped me. She gave me the glasses with just a cleaning cloth, no type of case (I've always gotten a case with every pair of glasses I've purchased or got through my insurance). When I asked about a case she said we don't provide them with Medi-Cal patients because Medi-Cal doesn't want to pay for the cases. When I told her that didn't seem right, and I've always got some type of pouch or case and that I was concerned about potentially breaking my brand new pair of glasses, she said "You're already getting the glasses for free with Medi-Cal....You can buy a case for $5". It was extremely rude and unprofessional, I felt once she knew I wasn't paying out of pocket and couldn't upsell me on a bunch of lenses and coatings etc. I was treated like a waste of her time. Too bad they lost business because I was interested in getting contacts and another pair of glasses that I would've paid out of pocket for in the future....Shame on them!
