He trained in ophthalmology at California Pacific Medical Center, pursued corneal, external disease and refractive surgery training at the New England Eye Center at Tufts School of Medicine, and completed an internal medicine residency at Mount Sinai School of Medicine plus an ocular immunology and uveitis fellowship at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
