Professional and thorough vision exams, without any weird up selling for foams or sprays. There is a long back log for new appointments, but I feel that it is worth it.

This place doesn’t take insurance. The dr was not friendly and I felt I was an inconvenience. Don’t go

This is the most thorough eye exam I have ever had. Never have I been treated so well by any sort of physician. They explain everything very well and will answer all of your questions. These people are specialist so you will pay a little more here but you cant put a price on your vision. I have a glass lens implant and the other doctors I have seen seemed to be clueless where these physicians knew everything about them.

Friendly staff, quick visit. I didn't like the eyeglass selection- too fancy for my tastes.

Great staff, hardly any wait. Had to wait 4 months for my upcoming appointment 8/18/25 but other than that, they're great and convenient location to all my other doctors 😁 …

Tim Camphouse at Eyes on James is amazing!! He knows more about finding, fitting, and fixing eyeglasses than anyone I have ever dealt with. He was able to take my severely disabled son's glasses lenses and put them in a frame that completely worked. For my own glasses, he actually steered me to the clearance frames and gave me an excellent deal. I would recommend this business to anyone, particularly if you have any special or unusual needs.

There's something that always bothers me: the assistant, who's Chinese, has a very strong temper and is very unpleasant and impatient with everyone. She discriminates against me for being Latino. They've changed my contact lens three times already, and I don't know why they don't give me the right one. Tomorrow will be the fourth time I pick up another contact lens to see how it fits this time. I'm fed up, honestly. They're supposed to be professionals.

Worst place to visit , receptionist was nice and friendly, but the optometrist who my mom saw was not nice at all, she did not acknowledge any of our presence no ho or bye, she was super rude .. I don’t know how she even operates, I would not go back , her name is JENNY TRUONG. I hope she learns some cs skills

I try to be a UW clinic loyalist and to not just shop online but these folks are making it hard! Optometrist Truong is very high caliber and thorough. Receptionist is a mask tyrant in 2023 even if mask is slightly below the nose to defog glasses while the lobby is empty and staff is on the opposite side of the building in a large lobby. Staffer who sells glasses is helpful but needs to be trained to read basic info (PD) from patient's records so I can order online and not pay their outrageous prices again!!

The Chinese woman works there as the reception is the worst. Never smiles. Bad attitude. Impatient. Unhelpful. Unprofessional. She should not be placed in a position to serve customers at all.

Exam itself was excellent, they werethorough and took layered imaging of my eye to check on a strange spot that obstructs my vision a tad. (I have astigmatism and the spot turned out to be a "freckle" deep inside my right eye, according to the doctor.) The issue i have is with the providers of the lenses. My glasses cost over $200, which is outrageous enough as is, but what ever they cover the lenses with is cheap because it dissolves over the years to the point of the glasses being completely unuseable. The film they put on my lenses makes it look like my lenses are consdantly foggy or smudged and it has progressively gotten so bad that I now can not see out if the glasses at all. It looks like it maybe has dried and shunk to where it cracked and looks almost like skin and pieces of something sticky-looking, but nothing is there, as I would clean my glasses daily. Photo included. I have never had this happen to glasses before and I have been through quite a few pairs as I have to get a new prescription every couple years. For the price, how cheaply made they are, plus needing a regular update on lenses, this place is not worth your $$$ for lenses. - Can literally see better without these now.

Highly skilled staff have taken care of my son and taught us a lot about his necessary contact lenses. They're associated with Harborview and UW si that fall in line with that high caliber knowledge and expertise. My son is only 13 and they set up several appointments just to help him learn to put them in. We are very grateful forv Eyes on James!

I’ve worn glasses for most of my life. I have severe myopia but otherwise my vision needs are straightforward. I needed a new eye doctor and appreciate the care I get at other UW clinics so decided to try Eyes on James. Big mistake. This optical shop is one of the worst I’ve experienced. They just can’t get my glasses made correctly. With all my previous glasses, I have only ever needed my lenses redone one time. Not here. After trying a couple different frames, a few different lenses, and getting my prescription rechecked, my new glasses still cause eye strain and make me nauseous. There is only one optician working here, and she is not interested in helping you. From the moment I tried on my glasses I knew something was wrong, but rather than listen to my concerns and troubleshoot solutions, she got defensive and antagonistic. Every subsequent encounter was similarly challenging. The eye doctor defers entirely to this optician about anything related to the glasses, so there is noone else who can help. To make things more difficult, you must schedule in advance with the optician for every interaction, including just picking up glasses. I’ve wasted a lot of time and money dealing with this shop and still don’t have correct glasses. I’m going elsewhere, and suggest you do as well.
