Everytime I come here, there is an issue with the front desk staff. Today I dealt with the incompetent Sandra. All I needed was a receipt or EOB of services for the eyeglass exam that my husband had last month. I explained that I needed it to submit to my FSA account. Sandra explained that there was absolutely no way to give me that or proof of services. And she refused to even try. I do not recommend this place to anyone. Not sure where this office always seems to find the most inept staff.

Horrible the staff lacked the understanding of speed of service. They were rude and had no sense of urgency. Children could have ran the store better. All i wanted tp do was pick my glasses i purchased that where ready and appartently so …

Great service, the receptionist is very sweet and helpful, I have seen her there for many years and she is always a delight to speak to. I now bring my daughter to make her eye exams there and nothing has changed she treats us like family.

One of the worst I've seen. I have been there twice just to give him the benefit of the doubt but in both cases, the prescription he wrote was wong and there was a constant going back and forth to correct the prescription. I will not go back there.

Excellent staff, very friendly, explained my ins coverage and my expectations with dr. Dr tran was very nice, efficient spent time with me as needed to answer my questions. He is out of network from my ins but I will return.

By far the worst human interaction that I have ever encountered. The person at the front desk needs to be retrained on how to speak to others. This woman did not let us get a word in and cut us off constantly. How is it that you want to run a successful business when you have an inept and unsocial excuse of a person in the place where all new business comes in. Do not go here at all.

Poor service from the staff. No sense of urgency in trying to help customers. I had to call my insurance myself because they were saying I didn't have insurance. All they had to do is speak to a representative instead of using the automated service. While on the phone with my insurance I put my phone on speaker so they could hear them giving me a authorization number when one of them closed the window to my face. I walked out and left because I deserve better treatment than that.

Front desk lady was very rude. She was very unprofessional what’s so ever didn’t even let me explain. You guys are well known y’all should hire experienced workers who like working with people. Thank you for your time hope y’all fix the issue.

I am extremely disappointed at their services and the way they take insurances

I have been going there for 9 years! Called because they locked the doors because of Covid19. Fine. But then tell me, we don't take your insurance anymore! Lost a customer along with eyemart express!

My visit to Dr. Tran’s office was EXCEPTIONAL. The receptionist, and the young assistant interning with Dr. Tran were very pleasant and accommodating, with excellent manners. I am dumbfounded at the scathing reviews people have posted. Perhaps people receive what they themselves dish out? Eighty dollars per exam is a very great value for the expertise Dr. Tran offers. The office has state of the art eye exams, with excellent machinery that is gentle on the eyes. Dr. Tran is very thorough, and careful to explain all that is happening with one’s eyes. I have had 20/10 or 20/15 visión most of my life, so I have only done health exams with an ophthalmologist over the years, but I was noticing some eye stress and thought I would take advantage of a family visit to south Texas for an eye check! My eyes have been shifting to 20/20 vision and it is obviously disconcerting! I had several questions to ask Dr. Tran about my changing eyesight and he was excellent in the detail of his responses! You will be well cared for at this optometry practice! I highly recommend Dr. Tran. Because we are from out of town, we also are very glad that access to Dr. Tran’s office is super easy, right off of exit 3B on rte. 35 south, in a plaza in front of the Walmart there on San Bernardo Ave!

I have been coming here for years too but the receptionist would not let you get a word in at all before she cuts you off. She is new too I have never seen her there. Such a rude receptionist, she definitely needs a job where she doesn't interact with people. The doctor is a really good doctor too, has always given good advice on eye care and has been accomodating when writing my contact prescriptions but never coming here again and won't recommend to anyone.

Like others have mentioned, Dr. Tran provides exceptional service. We trust him and have come with him for many years. However, his front desk staff is extremely incompetent which has resulted in us having to leave and coming back later-- more than once. It's always some issue with their system not being able to verify insurance. Usually that they are not able to verify it via online but they always REFUSE to verify it over the phone. And yes, we have insurance. It is inconvenient for people like us that take time off from work to go to the appointment. The front desk staff suggested to pay the full amount of the exam or go someplace else. Since this is not the first time this has happened, we will take your advice and take our business someplace else. I suggest you do the same.

Went to have my eyes checked. Cost me $80 bucks out of pocket. He spent maybe five minutes doing the exam. It's been a month since I purchased the new prescription and I was told to give my eyes time to adjust. It's been a month since then and I still can't use them. Spent 400 bucks on glasses I can't use. Very upset

Dr Tran has been my doctor since I was a teen. I take my kids now and I have had no problem. Dr Tran is very serious and answers questions only when asked but he does attend my family's needs and was patient with my son who has speech delay and had a problem reading the letters.

I have been coming here for more than 25+ years but never again. I waited a long time in the exam room and then when he finally came in he was very rushed in doing the exam to get it done fast. He still has the outdated air shooting pressure machine and doesn't dilate your eyes to check for any underlying conditions. The cost is now $90 for cash patients without insurance. Not state of the art equipment. Not worth the time or money to come here anymore. I DO NOT RECOMMEND AT ALL.

I've gotten 3 prescriptions at Felipe Tran's Optometrist office over the years and my experience has always been outstanding. They have great staff and they were very efficient. The entire visit took under 15 minutes and I was out the door with my prescription in-hand.

Extremely rude the older woman in the front office very rude I’ve been a patient before and you would think they keep medical records and still she said they didn’t and couldn’t verify if the insured information I was providing was me, I work with insurance and I know it can be looked up she made no attempt and was very rude still with no one else in the waiting room was there very rude will not be coming here again. They are there to provide a service if you don’t enjoy your job quit!!

Went for an eye exam yesterday at 9am, got attended really quick, nice people no problems. Got checked by Dr. Tran and straight to the point i was out by 20 minutes. Really good service here and cheap eye exam for 80 dollars.

Great service especially with the older lady in the front, and the young employees look happy to be there!

Ive gone with Dr. Tran for a couple of years now and it has always been great service with the staff and the Dr. I will continue to go there.

Has been my eye doctor for years! Always get my prescription right! Quick and efficient- in and out quickly!

Dr. Tran has great knowledge and experience and was excellent in getting my prescription. No other doctor in Laredo has been able to provide me with great contact lenses. Do recommend

I have not been a client there. BUT I called to attempt to go see the dr for an eye exam. The lady who answered the phone did not know if they accepted my insurance, then preceded to tell me "no that's a health insurance" umm no ma'am I'm looking at my insurance card plus a list of doctors they know of in my hand. I'm calling because I was wanting to go to eye mart express and you're next door. She then tells me I would have to go in person so they can check with my social....WHAT THE HECK!?! Why? This is why I'm calling to avoid driving over there for nothing. So just never mind I will take my business else where all together. its unfortunate this doctor does not know his staff is not knowledgeable

This place just gave me the worst experience I’ve ever had in any other business here in Laredo. They were rude and they didn’t want to verify my insurance on the account that the system was down. My daughter has insurance with m through work, however they stated I can’t be using two insurances. I clarified with them that I’m not using two insurances, but that if verifying my insurance was an issue than I’ll just pay out of pocket. They then stated that they can’t accept my money because they will be audited and penalized for not trying to use my insurance. I left scratching my head and decided to call back and make sure there was any misunderstanding and I was treated very unprofessionally, the receptionist hung up on me. I called again and I stated to her I believe I was hung up on and she proudly said yes and said that I was jot understanding and being difficult. I reiterated to her that they are telling me that I cannot use my daughters medicaid and I keep telling them that she does not have Medicaid. I asked to speak to Mr. Felipe Tran and notified her that they were all being ridiculous with all the run arounds and apparently with all the answers that didn’t make sense they don’t know what they’re doing. The receptionist then put me on hold for the doctor and left me for 10 minutes and then hung up the line. I called again and she stated that I wasn’t on the line anymore so she decided to end my call. Which was a lie I was on the line waiting for a long time. I’m still scratching my head about this…like no wonder people become Karena loos at the customer service we have in Laredo and I was born and raised here and the amount of careers I’ve had never treated people like shit…excuse my language..but that’s how these receptionist at this place made me and my daughter feel because she did witness all this.

Apparently they accommodate their drs over their customers. We’ve never had a problem with Dr Tran but his other Dr mistreated my 2 year old daughter and didn’t want her in the room when she was sitting down out of the way. He spoke to her and my wife in a very unfriendly manner and we won’t be going back.

I went in as a walk in, and it was fast. Doctor saw me within 8 minutes of my walking into the door. He was very professional and knowledgeable. I saw the reviews before posting my review and I didn’t have an issue with the front desk employees maybe because I didn’t use insurance. Although they weren’t rude to me, I think they can probably work on having a more welcoming attitude. But over all it’s a good place to get an eye exam.

Ridiculous! Called to see if able to go for new contact lens exam. Was informed on phone needed to be there before 3:30 since it was a first time exam. Got a sub at work picked up son early arrived at 2:50 to be told they could not see me. Maybe they shouldn't tell patients over phone to go at a certain time so they don't have to reschedule thier whole work/ school schedule for nothing. Will not be going back, will go somewhere else not only for contacts but all future glasses exams as well. Very unprofessional.

Front desk Staff were very courteous with me. I went in with my daughter as a Walk in First time patient. The wait time was less than 5 minutes when my daughter was called in. Eye exam was an In and Out experience. Dr. Tran came and spoke to me about my daughter’s eye exam. I am very happy with my experience today with Dr. Felipe Tran Optometrist.

Walk-ins welcome. Arrived a bit before 2 p.m. with no wait. They're open from 9-4 on Saturdays which is helpful for those of us that work Monday thru Friday. The exam is thorough, but quick. Dr. Tran answers any questions and is courteous and professional.
