The doctor was nice, but their frame selection isn't the best and the receptionist isn't mean or anything like that, but she certainly isn't happy go lucky. I think, if my insurance allows, I may have my examinations through them and buy the frames and lenses online.

The older gentleman Optometrist was nice. Other two were very rude. Didn’t listen to me or care, tried to guilt me for not getting glasses I couldn’t afford. Not a good experience. Not going back.

I would give ZERO stars it if that was an option. Really wasn’t expecting to have my intelligence insulted, when going for an eye exam! I chose not to fill out the OPTIONAL portion on the back of a form. I was then asked “Why I didn’t fill it out?”, followed by a sarcastic “HOW WELL DID YOU DO IN SCHOOL?!” Really?!..I can take a joke, But this was straight up INSULTING and UNPROFESSIONAL I told Dr. A that I didn’t appreciate being talked to like that (College grad, with a Finance degree, for reference..not that it should matter) I was also ordered to fetch my own paperwork from the reception desk, because the Dr. “Needed it”. OK, great..but I was previously instructed to give it to the receptionist. Now it’s my job to get you the paperwork you need from your employee?! I think this is my first review on here, so that should let you know how horrible the experience was!! Avoid this place at all costs!!

Walked in to see if they had a kit to fix my kids glasses; he lost a screw in gym class 🫠 the gentleman fixed it on the spot for us with no charge. I’ve never been serviced here, but my family has and those are the kind gestures that make Rahway’s community great. Thanks! …

My mother like me liked the eye doctor even though it hurt a little getting examed. But for both of us the glasses were poor. I rather use my 20 dollar glasses than the ones I got there.

Wonderful staff, great selection, I accidentally broke my frames about 5 times...each time I was either allowed to repair or replace them with no charge. Jay, the optician, is extremely kind and helpful and he works with you and your insurance to achieve the best, most convenient and appropriate outcome for your vision.

The best eye doctor... in the area.... gem family care

I had been going here for years even though their service was absolutely terrible. The front desk receptionist is so rude and entitled. The optician is just as bad, if not worse. The eye doctor himself is a kind old man but the equipment is very outdated. All you can really expect is a basic prescription with not much else care for your overall eye health. Other eye doctor offices have great service and good mannerisms so please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. You don’t need people being rude and looking down on you for any reason, it is very unprofessional.

Went in as a walk-in which they usually dont do they took me in right away knowing my symptoms . Front desk staff is very nice and also the doctor took his time to examine me and explain to me what i had. And gave me.a follow up for next week, great experience.

VERY helpful and patient.

I had an emergency and needed contacts. I called everywhere and luckily Jay picked up at GEM. He kindly gave me a pair of samples to hold me off and I made an appointment for new ones. They were the only place that did the kind gesture for me and I am so grateful. I came to my appointment and the doctor went above and beyond. He was so knowledgeable and answered all my questions and more. For the topping their prices are wonderful for someone who doesn’t have eye insurance and have to pay out of pocket. Definitely check them out for your eye care.

They are excellent. My dad, mom, sister, been going to this place for over 20 years. Same location, and doctors. Now my children, spouse Myself. This is our family doctor. Excellent service. I highly recommend. Very professional

I’ve been an eyeglass wearer for over 45 years and this was the BEST optometrist experience to date! Efficient and considerate staff along with excellent, thorough exam and explanation.

This place is a nice place the doctors are so nice but the 2 reception at the front they are irresponsible at points. I paid for my glasses over the phone and had a balance and when I came in my balance was even higher and I asked her why is my balance that high and she said I had to resubmit the payment so I asked her why didn't they call me , why did they wait 2 weeks later till I came in to tell me about my payment and the guy that was there in the front he was being a smart-ass and going to say what we was just waiting for you to come here. it would have been more customer service and patient-friendly if you would have called me and informed me because I would have came faster and handled the situation they made me have the worst experience ever if I have to come back there I will not especially if those two are in the front with the same attitude they need to learn how to talk to people and not be a smartass. So I'm giving a 👎👎
