My appointment was rescheduled twice, both times the day before. Once under the guise of “you’ll be the last patient that day so we just wanted to be sure you were coming” to which i replied I’d be happy to come another day as it seemed clear they were trying to get out of the office early. On the day of my third attempt I showed up 10 minutes before my appointment to be informed I would have a wait of an hour for an hour long appointment. Brilliant showing for a new patient.

Dr. Haik is very thorough and often takes over an hour per patient. I have had good luck by being the first appt of the day at 9:00 am. If you schedule later, you might have to wait.

I switched to Dr. Haik last year after my normal eye doctor got really weird about my insurance. My whole life, every single time I go in for an exam, optometrists have told me that I have high eye pressure and that I'm at very high risk for developing glaucoma. My mother and grandmother have also experienced this (my grandmother is now in her 70s and still has not developed glaucoma). Dr. Haik took some initial readings and noted that while my eye pressure seemed high, he wanted to check something. He did a pachymetry test to check the thickness of my corneas and found that they are thicker than average which was throwing off the pressure results and gave a false positive. At the time of my first visit with him, I had also gone in for a battery of allergy tests and come up negative on all of them. During my exam, he asked what I was allergic to and I told him that according to the recent tests, nothing. He laughed and said he could see the inflammation in my eyes and that even if we haven't figured out what I'm allergic to yet, I'm obviously allergic to something. It felt nice having a medical professional say that they believe me. Update Spring 2019: The detailed exam that gave the above 5-star review has a downside. For my most recent appointment, I waited for two before I had to leave to go to my next appointment that day. I had to reschedule for a different day and also waited over an hour to be seen on the second attempt. Dr. Haik's attention to detail means that a lot of appointments run over their scheduled time allotment. Plan for a long wait if you're still interested in seeing him.
