I love Dr. Chan and his team! Everyone is so kind and professional. I’ve been seeing Dr. Chan for more than a decade and I trust him so completely. Also, they have a good selection of frames to choose from.

Went in for an annual eye exam. Working with Medicare is tough but providers are required to provide care. But not Haight Street Eyecare. The doc had some event scheduled right after my exam and tried to rush my exam, then cut it short (just bad planning?). We did finish it and a new pair of glasses was warranted. So I pick out frames and ask about payment, using my Medicare Advantage plan. Ok, I understand not wanting to pay lower prices with Medicare negotiated rates, but apparently the doc instructed his office manager not to sell me glasses at all. I asked about payment plans for my copay - no way. So I realized that there was no point in sticking around. As I went to clean my glasses two of the office staff screamed out "No, don't. You'll scratch your glasses." Asked for a glasses wipe - no way. I asked for my Rx so I could order glasses online to save a little money. The manager insisted that online companies cannot provide the same required service, e.g. pupil distance measurement, that they could. So they won't sell me glasses, but they feed me a(n untrue) line (can get PD from store and then use it for online orders) saying I should not order online. It seemed like their objective was to harass and toy with me. Don't go there. Don't feed into their attitudes. Don't even go there for an eye exam. It's not worth the hassle or abuse.

I scratched my cornea and was able to get a same day appointment as a new patient at Haight Street eye care. Dr Situ was extremely thorough and kind. When I was still experiencing pain the next day, he again squeezed me into be seen. He also emailed me later that day to check that I was still feeling better. The office staff are also kind and attentive. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
