Suggest you take the poor reviews about this practice with a grain of salt. Dr. Ericksen performed my surgery, and I have nothing but good things to say. My personal experience with office staff and technicians has been very positive. Everyone has been courteous and the wait times haven't been long.

I've been using HREA for nearly 20 years. My 2 most recent encounters have me looking for a new eye doctor. 1. In January, I had an appointment with Dr. Pisetzner for the first time, during which he diagnosed me with "bulging" eyes. I have always had fairly big eyes. It's just the shape of my eyes. They are not "bulging." Nonetheless, he made a big fuss of it insinuating the shape of my eyes was indicative that I had a thyroid disease (I don't-- I told him I've had thyroid levels checked in the past and they're normal, but he insisted on making me schedule an appointment with a Riverside PCP). I felt quite shamed by the way he approached this with me. He also refused to measure my pupillary distance for my eyeglasses prescription, stating I needed to use their optical shop to buy my glasses and wouldn't measure my pupillary distance because that would mean I could go elsewhere for glasses. Glasses at their optical shop cost over $200; I know I can get them elsewhere for half that price. This whole encounter seemed like nothing more than a cash grab for Riverside Health Systems. 2. My 4 year old was referred to Dr. Chamblee last August (8 months ago) by his pediatrician. We showed up for our appointment today, for which I had to get my kids out of bed 1.5 early and drive nearly an hour to get there, only to be told the appointment was canceled because I didn't call them to confirm we'd be there. I have a text message from them confirming an appointment, and one missed call with no voicemail. I realized the missed call was from them when I Googled the phone number later. Since they left no voicemail, I assumed it was another reminder for the appointment. They told me they have too many people who actually "want the appointment" with Dr. Chamblee that they cancel any appointments that aren't verbally confirmed. Not leaving a voicemail at least explaining that policy is so unprofessional in my opinion. Obviously I wanted the appointment, as I made the effort to be there, and would have called them back had they informed me they were going to cancel it.. I have called another ophthalmologist for my son and have canceled my next appointment with them as well.
