Incompetent billing staff: Does not correctly charge the insurance company at the time of purchase. Months later, after they realize they have made a mistake, they try to charge you again after you've already paid your out of pocket expenses in an attempt to fix their incompetence. After you explain to the smarter people that they have made a mistake, they admit fault, but it's too late because they are too late at making the claim against the insurance company because it's 8 months later. Now you are held accountable, but I will not pay for their incompetence.

As of today, I am a former patient. This practice has questionable financial practices. If you have more than one eligible insurance options, they will always steer you towards the one most profitable to them, even when it means additional out-of-pocket charges to the patient. They will even have the doctor argue with you in front of the entire reception area if you insist they file with a different plan. If you chose to use this practice, know which of your insurance plans you want used, and be prepared to have to fight their strong-armed tactics to use it. I've chosen to go elsewhere.

Heart of America Eye Care's financial practices are very questionable, beware! They have on several occasions tried to charge me for services that I've already paid for and/or my eye insurance has already paid them for. Before you just pay the bill that they keep sending, requesting payment again, investigate and make sure that you haven't already. I bet you will find that you already have paid and maybe more than once.
