The Illinois Eye Institute is the clinical division of the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago. It provides comprehensive eye exams, disease management, contact lenses, eyeglasses, and emergency appointments, plus care for myopia, cataracts, glaucoma, and retinal detachments.
More than 90 attending optometrists and consulting eye surgeons staff the practice. Attending optometrists also teach at the Illinois College of Optometry, and some surgeons hold faculty roles at the University of Chicago or are affiliated with Advocate Health Care and Sinai Chicago Health System.

I had a really frustrating experience with the Illinois Eye Institute. The entire process of getting contact lenses has been unnecessarily long and inefficient. I had to come in for three separate appointments: one for my prescription, another for a contact lens fitting, and then another just to confirm the contacts were comfortable. It felt like much of this could have been handled in one visit.
Communication has also been difficult. Their voicemail boxes are full, making it hard to reach anyone for updates. After ordering my contacts, I waited three weeks without receiving them or hearing anything. I finally had to physically go into the office myself just to find out what was going on.
