I scheduled an appointment for my daughter to have her Kindergarten screening test done. First off, it took almost 3 weeks to get me in. I had explained to the woman on the phone while scheduling, that she knows her numbers but can only read some letters. When I arrived the office staff was very pleasant. Those ladies deserve a higher rating, but not the Opthamologist. He was very short with my daughter. Now she's only four years old, and gets frustrated when she cant do something right. He flipped through a handful of numbers/letters, pretty fast and then got frustrated when she didn't know them. He did not provide a full exam, instead, said she needed to go see a Pediatric Opthamologist because he couldnt deal with her. They still tried to bill my insurance for a full exam, which WAS NOT PROVIDED. They were fully aware of my daughters age and ability prior to the appt. I will never return to this establishment.

I was charged an extra $49 for a “wellness check” on top of the comprehensive exam even though my insurance copay was only $10. They also charge too much for their glasses. The front desk associate was pleasant, but the sales consultant at the end of the appointment was not helpful and not warm. They insisted on the extra payment in order to release my prescription despite my not having the extra money with me and my request to be given a bill. I was so concerned that this place was a scam that I researched my record from three years ago to compare the prescription to make sure it was right. Thankfully, it seems fine. However, when I told my old eye doctor office about the “wellness charge” I was told it should be a part of the comprehensive exam and something’s not right. Don’t waste your time and money with My Eye Doctor in Machesney Park.
