This eye center has really declined in recent years. Good optometrists, but that's the end of it. We used to just walk right over to choose glasses after getting a prescription, but now you need a separate appointment for that. This isn't clear unless you read the fine print in the appointment notification. They don't tell you this when you call to book your eye exam. So you need to call a second time to make the appointment to actually choose glasses. No other optometrist I've been to in nearly 40 years has ever done this. Kaiser Optical center does provide a link to make the sales appointment online, but the server is down and the website doesn't load. My husband has to wait 2 months to get a contact lens appointment, but then he couldn't book it for January because their schedule for January isn't open, yet. In 2021 I got a progressive lens prescription made that I went and filled at Costco. The prescription was wonky, and I called the Kaiser optometry. They said go back to Costco. The nice man there double checked my glasses and cross-checked the prescription from Kaiser and said they are all good and to get reevaluated by my optometrist at Kaiser. I made an appointment to do that, and when I showed up Kaiser said it was $120. Needless to say, I was furious. I managed to get hold of the department head who saw me at no cost and found they had indeed made an error in my prescription. This center is so poorly run. They have zero priority on helping the patient/customer, and instead make staffing excuses instead of hiring more people. We used to love it here, but since 2020 it's gone really downhill. The only reason they get 2 stars is because of the decent doctors. Save your time and keep your blood pressure down and just go get your prescription filled at Costco. You may have to wait a little, but no appointment needed, they have a larger selection, and frames are much cheaper. Much better customer service.

Kaiser Optical Cottle road in San Jose is the worst facility I have EVER delt with.. I have been getting my eye prescriptions from Kaiser for over 25 years and this frosts the cake! I can not afford their expensive and time delayed eyeglass, period!! $400 for 1 pair.. I choose to go outside to get my glasses and have for many years and I pay ⅓ the cost. I called today for the PD reading so I can order glasses, I have my prescription yet the PD is not on it.. I waisted all day yesterday on the phone trying to reach a “real person”. Finally later in the day I reached several through the wrong prints on the automated lines. Different people gave me different phone numbers. I’m was advised to call this number and then that number.. This morning I finally reached the sales department which in the recording states appointment for glasses.. (mind you this is not what I needed) but reached a girl whom said I need to schedule an appointment for my PD reading and it will run $20.00.. I said I had my prescription and it doesn’t have the pd reading.. she said that the PD reading is not done with the appointment for a prescription. Seriously? Then I asked to get an appointment and she said all day, week is open but you can not drop in.. I said what times do you have today, she laughed and said what time do you need.. then I said you mean all day is available and she said yes.. I then said why can’t I just drop by, she said you need an appointment.. This is ridiculous that you have to pay for your prescription and the pay for a PD reading!! Kaiser should be reported for gouging the patient.
