Three stars for the average. I give 5 stars across the board for all the staff, from greeting, to techs, to checkout, to optical. Dr Kirk gets 1 star. I feel like Dr Kirk has “canned” answers and doesn’t actually listen to what I was telling him. This isn’t the first time I have had this experience with him. During this visit, I told him how a “blue blocker” coating on my current prescription was very helpful preventing eye strain when I work on my laptop or phone. Without this coating it takes up to an hour for my eyes to adjust to clearly see in the distance. He flat out told me that was not true. Really? Is he saying I am not speaking the truth about what I have experienced with my vision? He had no interest to hear what I was telling him. They are my eyes. I can tell the difference in these lenses. He just said it’s dry eye then gave me a business card so I can tell all my friends to come to him. Nope.

At the moment we stepped through the doors at Kirk Eye Center we were warmly welcomed and enjoyed knowing we were being taken care of in a most competent, caring and professional manner. Thank you to Dr. Kirk and his staff…you set the bar incredibly high and live up to the high standard we’ve come to expect over these many years from Kirk Eye Center.

Kirkland unfortunately produced a bad experience for me. I have gone to them prior with great results but my appointment in late July was a very different experience. I called and set an appointment with Dr. Kirk to have my eye exam and renew a prescription I have had for 20+ years. Prior to service I asked what the services would include with my insurance and my renewal for contacts. Before service and at checkout, representatives stated that it would only be my $10 copay. During the appointment I was asked if it would be ok to see Dr. Asay instead of Dr. Kirk, due to Dr. Kirk running behind. I agreed to switch doctors to accommodate their need. I went to checkout paid the $10 they stated was the only balance due only to turn around and send me a bill. The bill was for $68, a fairly small amount but was not expected. I called to Kirkland to understand the charges and a representative stated that she would call me back shortly. 3 days later I called back due to no response. I was told that the charges are for contact fitting. The reason for the appointment was to renew my contact prescription and I asked how this was not disclosed when I asked twice at the time of service. I feel that I showed flexibility to accommodate them but, they were unwilling to support me from a customer service perspective. The office manager acknowledged and agreed that they made errors and understood that I changed doctors at their request. It is sad that for $68 they were willing to lose a client. Everyone was polite that I spoke with and the office manager stated that I was also polite and respectful with my concerns and with my communication but the end result was that $68 is more important than my ongoing business. I paid and will not return.
