I went in for an eye exam and was told that I had cataracts and needed surgery. So they made an appointment for me. When I arrived at the appointment, they told me I couldn't even get an evaluation because I didn't have insurance at the time. I told them that I could pay for the evaluation immediately but they said because the surgery is so expensive they wouldn't even examine me. This is a horrible place that cares only about money. They wouldn't even give me an examination for a procedure that I need when I was able to pay for it. A doctor's office that's going to turn you away because they don't think you have enough money does not have your health and best interests in mind.

Ditched this clinic for eye exam as well as glasses shopping and moved to Visionworks. Only regret I have is I didn’t go to Visionworks sooner. I’m paying only $70 for same glasses I paid $400+ here and I didn’t even realized I was over paying! I only walked away from this clinic because of the nurse that treated me and my mom like dumb (because I have an accent and mom can’t speak English) when we went back to get my moms glass prescription right bcoz she wasn’t able to see properly with it.

Dr. Dekeyser takes the time he needs with patients and is very thorough. I would definitely see him again IF he worked elsewhere, but working with the front office is a testament to your patience. KU Health Systems scheduling department isn't helpful (they can't answer questions about cost) and if your health insurance does not cover routine eye exams (I highly suggest you find out before because they won't do it ahead of time), the out-of-pocket cost is a little under $200. I advise shopping around since everything is expensive here. The cost of glasses in their optical shop is also very high compared to other places.
