Dr. Steven Leighton with Leighton Eye Clinic has me seeing better than I have in years. I love my new disposal contacts. I can see far, nearnand intermediate. I don't even need reading glasses now. I highly recommend him. He and his staff are great. He really listened to me and my needs. Thank you Dr. Leighton. I'm super stoked and excited over my vision now!!!🤗🤗❤❤

Ive been waiting on my sons glasses since Sept 2021 , so i bought him another pair from the office, they broke after a week & i can NEVER get anyone to answer the phone to inquire about a warrenty . It very fustrating when your trying to get things done. Also, my voice mails are NEVER returned

I help test optometrists before they are allowed to get their license (they have to pass the equivalent of medical boards or lawyer's BAR) so I see and work with a lot of optometrists. I can say with full confidence that Dr. Leighton is probably the best optometrist we have in charlotte, certainly in the top 3. I give nothing but my highest recommendations.

I have always had a great experience with Dr Leighton. This guy cares about his patients. Well worth my recommendation.

The receptionist Jennifer Hans is the main reason I will not be returning. The disrespect and how they treat their patients is horrible. They tell you one thing over the phone and once you get there it’s not documented. It does not make any sense.

I'VE beeen with Leighton Eye Care since 1979. Great professionalism, personal kindness and I've never been disappointed or misdiagnosed. My eye care for life.

I never received my glasses from this clinic. Every time I called, I was told they need to contact the lab and will call me back tomorrow for updates. They will never call you for any updates. They must of never had put the order in for my glasses. I never been to a clinic who literally took so long for a pair of glasses and NO UPDATES no matter that kind of insurance you used". Overall, very disappointed with this eye clinic.

Quoted one price, but was charged more than double out the door. Doctor came off as arrogant. Office was pretty dim and old.. Old lady at the front desk had some wise remarks as well. My recommendation is not to go there.

Dr. Leighton and Jennifer are both extremely kind, patient and attentive. The best eye Dr. we have experienced. I would recommend to anyone.

If you want to be ripped off they go here! First place I have come to that wanted to charge for a prescription I already paid for. Don't go here just go somewhere else. Rude dr and bad service. Unless you go for that kind of thing.

Dr. Steven and the LEighton family have always gone above and beyond in all they do. Best Eye guy I've ever seen! Pun intended!

Update 7/29/19 See Dr. Steve Leighton’s response on my review. He comes back with a condescending remark instead of wanting to be helpful in some sort of way or apologizing. $700 + in the hole on my end and will chalk it up as a valuable lesson to never go back! Refused to send my records over to Premier a new eye doctor's office. Receptionist stated from Premier that they have NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH A REQUEST FOR A NEW PATIENTS RECORDS. This was the 1st time ever running into an issue and found it very odd! Dr. Leighton stated he must charge $65.00 for my medical records request to be electronically sent to a new Optometrist & have only seen Dr. Leighton 3 times***Going against NC Statute 90-411 of reasonable fees. I have formally seen Dr. Leighton 3 times by appointment with in a 10 year period. Left with Bent Designer Glasses that are useless and can not see properly out of them, Dr. Leighton does not stand behind his work*** Dr. Leighton does not deserve even 1 star in my opinion! 1st appointment was fine. On the initial appointment Dr. Leighton said "what if you end up in a nursing home drooling on your self who is going to take care of you"? (I'm middle aged, healthy). I found this odd even after leaving, he stated, "you know their are people your age in nursing homes"! He even was pushing Medi-Share Christian Insurance. Medi-Share gives referral bonus $100.00. This must be how the Dr. makes extra cash. - Unprofessional!!! I left paying over 1/2 my bill of $420. since I would be waiting on my new glasses. I chose one of the higher end designer glasses and planed to pay extra. A couple weeks went by, I went to pick up my glasses and paid remaining balance totaling $720.00 cash. I got to my office and could not see out of them. I made app to go back and the office staff was fine, but Dr. Leighton a little irritated as he was checking my sight. It's like he didn't believe me! Dr. Leighton was bending the glasses and putting them back on me and saying is this better. NO! Then he measured and he admitted they were measured wrong. Crystal his assistant was standing in the exam room with us and he asked "What measurements do you have"? Crystal read off whatever the reading was and Dr. Leighton said "no wonder, they are measured wrong", and asked what assistant measured. Crystal said Jennifer measured. Dr. Leighton clearly was not happy about having to send the glasses back and I felt that it was inappropriate to discus this employee in front of a patient. Long story short they sent them back and I still could not see out of them. I then went back a 3d time, Dr. Leighton did an eye exam, said he was going to send them back 1 MORE TIME as his body language shouted back at me. 2 weeks later I picked them up, tried to wear them over the weekend at my home and still could not see out of them properly. I just wanted glasses I could see out of! Dr. Leighton said he could do no more for me after he took the glasses a 2nd time and bent them with pliers. I left with a bent pair of designer glasses, that are of no use. Dr. Leighton refused to give a refund and does not stand behind his work. He is also very rude and arrogant like other reviews I have read. The office is dreary, old and complacent people go there. They have refused to send me my records. I'm filing a complaint with BBB and NC State Board of Opticians.

I have to give 5 stars because Dr. Leighton and his staff were very nice and helpful. I received the best of eye exams and received a great pair of glasses which fit well unlike my last pair from elsewhere. Thank you very much to Dr Leighton and his staff!! ☺

Disappointed. I was hoping this would be my “new eye place” for me and my children. Worked out well last year but have called twice over the past few months and left voicemails ( no one is answering when I call) and need to get in and NO RETURN CALL all summer. Even mentioned on last voice mail please call me, no has gotten back to me and need to get in before end of year. With two kids and me and schedules I can’t wait. I don’t understand since everyone seemed great last year and now they seem not to care at all. Looking elsewhere but sick of looking elsewhere. Unless there is some type of emergency closure ( nothing in their website regarding this) there is no excuse for bad customer service and ignoring your patients after multiple calls!

POOOOOOR SERVICE I WAITED A KONTH FOR A PAIR OF GLASSES THAT WAS ONLY SUPPOSE TO BE “7day” wait for them to say THEY LOST MY GLASSES AND HAVE NO IDEA OF WHERE THEY COULD BE. THE STAFF SHOWED COMPLETELY NO CARE IN THE WORLD THE STAFF IS RUDE SO THE MANAGEMENT MUST BE VERY POOR. I WOULDNT RECCOMEND THIS PLACE TO ANYYYYBODYYYY

I am still trying to find the right glasses cause i swear I seem like I'm going blind,but I have nothing but good things to say about this place.Dr. Leighton is so easy to talk to(about things other than my eyes) and the staff is friendly and very professional. (and one of the techs is just too cute!!!)

Went here after going to a couple other eye doctors. I was having a constant issue with my eye that other Doctors told me nothing was wrong with it. Long story short I came here and refused to let me leave without an answer and solution. He was super nice and personable. The staff talked to me as if we had been friends for years. Ill go here and have my family go here a long time.

Dr. Leighton is very genuine, personable, and caring. I am grateful to have him as my on-going eyecare professional. It is refreshing to have a Dr. provide such forthcoming information. Thank you!

I took both my kids around first of August to get eye exams done and new pair of glasses. My oldest got her glasses finally in December but my youngest who needs them the most has yet received her new pair. I've called n they keep telling me it will be next week. I am about to see disputing the claim and request I get her eye prescription and I will go somewhere else to get her glasses. It is interfering with her learning at school. This is ridiculous! Will never be back!

Forget every negative thing you read about Dr. Leighton and his staff. He is he only Eye Doctor my family has every had and I love going there. He is a trip, Jen and the rest of the staff are equally awesome and anyone who says otherwise is clearly confused. - R. Whisenant

Dr. Leighton is very friendly and reassuring. He spent a lot of time with me and was very thorough. Prices are reasonable. Staff is friendly and attentive.

I have very mixed feelings about this place. I went as a semi-emergency with a seriously bloodshot eye. They were very friendly especially the doctor. He took the time to explain the cause and also told me about a surgery he recommended, also non-emergency, elective. When it came time for me to complete my insurance and paycheck papers for the next year I wanted more information on the surgery, specifically costs. I called 3 different times and left messages and no one ever did get back to me. Needless to say I won't be getting the surgery this year; and, if I do in the future, I don't know if I'll go here or not. Too bad because I really did like him.

Dr. Leighton has been our family eye dr for over 20yrs!! Remember going to see his dad Dr. Charles Leighton every week for eye training when I was a kid. They both were wonderful people. Called Dr. Steve while back to see about a good eye Dr in midland tx and told me where to go!! Went a few weeks back and vision health fixed my problem and gave me the right prescription!! Thanks Dr. Steve!!

Dr. Leighton and his team are the bomb! From the minute you walk in and are greeted by his very courteous and experienced front office team to the exam room experience, best eye practice around! Dr. Leighton is a fantastic communicator and discusses each and every procedure and option in great detail. Tons of technology, great selection of eye wear and the manner in which you are treated will make this my family's go to place for eye care. Thank you, Dr. Leighton and Team!

Was told I could not reschedule my appointment after I missed a few due COVID(that little thing that happened) until I paid $25 to his IT company to be able to make a appointment. He and staff have gotten rude over the years. He gave me my first pair of glasses when I was in 3rd grade. Don’t know what happened to his attitude but if it he really does have an IT company charging($25) he is being held hostage and I want to know the name of the company to make sure it’s up to par.

My new Eye doctor. This office has the best staff of any I've had in quite some time ... everybody is friendly, professional and most knowledgeable of their craft. I would highly recommend this office to anyone anyone looking for a new eye doctor
