One would expect a retinologist like Dr. Manthan Shah to only heal vision problems. In my case, when observing an infection inside my eye, he correctly diagnosed a much more serious, and a very difficult to spot, systemic, blood infection. It’s caused by a bug called strep mitis. Dr. Shah has a working relationshp with top professors of ophthalmology in Chicagoland. He directed me to go directly to Northwestern Hospital’s ER downtown, where I was admitted and was worked on until 3 AM by the ophthalmologist on call. My vision improved, but further tests showed the bacteria affecting other organs . That problem was properly addressed. If Dr. Shah didn’t make that diffucult to spot diagnosis, I probably would no longer be alive. I’m forever grateful.
