I came here after my eyelid started swelling up. I have previously had cellulitis of the face and was concerned that it was making a comeback, so I reached out to the staff at Melrose Eye Care for an appointment. When I called, the staff was pleasant and transparent. Since I work during the weekdays, the only time I could make an appointment was on the weekends. The staff advised me that Dr. Dzubur had a really busy schedule on Saturday and the only time he could see me was at 8:40 am. Melrose Eye Care is accessible by CTA trains, buses and car. It is on a main street and has both free street parking and parking behind the building for its customers so win-win all around! The office ordinance doesn’t look that big from the outside but once you walk in, you’re wowed by the space! The space inside looked extremely cleaned, organized and everything looked in its place. There was plenty of seating arrangements and if necessary, there was enough space to space out chairs for additional space. Upon entering, the office staff was welcoming, happy, smiling and asking for my insurance card and ID and in return handing me registration papers. It was determined at the time that I was not in network with Dr. Dzubur but they offered me a self- pay option which I choose instead. I work in healthcare where often times we just tell patients that we will bill them and send the bill home. I really appreciated how honest the staff was, they outright told me what I can expect and how much it will cost. Once I completed my forms, I was asked to follow the medical student/medical assistant to the room to be prepped for the visit. She was very nice, maintaining eye focus, asking questions about my eye health and current situation and just advising me of what she intends to do as “prep”. Because my eye was really swollen, she told me she would put some eye drop in my eyes that will make it easier to perform an eye exam. She did advise that it would sting and she didn’t lie! I told her that I didn’t feel blurry vision but that I did feel like the stye was giving me less visibility. While she was performing her eye exam, Dr.Dzubur walked in, introduced himself and then proceeded to ask the resident what she thought I had. After a few minutes, Dr. Dzubur examined my eye and confirmed that I had an infected stye and that it was ozzing so he started to put pressure on it with his tools and sure enough, the pus from the stye started oozing out. Gross I know but I wouldn’t have known to do that myself nor would I have known with what tools to do that. Dr. Dzubur gave me some eye drops and prescribed me antibiotics, twice a day for seven days. He also told me no contacts for three days, that the swelling should come down in the next day or so and to continue putting warm compressants on the infected eye to remove the remainder of the pus from the stye. I appreciated Dr. Dzubur‘s thoroughness and expertise- I trusted his diagnosis but he also reminded me that the treatment is as good as my willingness to adhere to it! I did everything he told me and within three days, my eye looked like new! Thank The swelling stopped, the stye was slowly going away and I could see a lot better. Thank you Dr. Dzubur and staff!!! I am forever grateful to Melrose Eye Care for the care- I would highly recommend their services and facility to everyone! I hope to come back for an eye exam and glasses in the future.
