We have been Dr. Sheety for several years. He is very knowledgeable, professional, and very conservative with surgical procedures. We have been always impressed by his work. Diana, his assistant, she is kind, friendly, and very helpful in directing and educating patients. We highly recommend Dr. Michael Sheety.

Edit 9/1/26: It has gotten a lot better. He hasn’t rescheduled on me. However, my appointments have been earlier in the week. Still not as friendly as he used to be, but he’s soooo thorough & clearly cares to keep my vision great, that I don’t mind. Overall, a great dr. Former review, I was upset at the service received that day & the previous day: He reschedules often if it is a Friday. Be aware that they can also take their time & you wait a while in the lobby. They “try” to not do that but inevitably, sometimes there’s an hour wait or more. As an eye doctor, I have complete confidence in him. He did a great lasik on my eyes 20 years ago and it still is working. When it comes to scheduling, & recently the bedside manner, hasn’t been as good, overall.

This office has a lot of modern equipment. I found the staff to be knowledge. I am giving a low rating based on a qualified Medical exam (QME) that was provided. A QME is required to settle a workers comp injury claim in the state of California. Physicians have to apply to the state Board of industrial relations to become a QME provider. From what I can discern - it must be fairly lucrative. My recent medical issue was an ear injury. Somehow, my original attorney (who I later dismissed), selected this specialist to provide the exam. It was a thorough exam, requiring me to travel 90 minutes each way and take a day off from work. When I arrived and realized that Dr. Sheety was not an audiologist or ENT, I asked the receptionist to speak with him. I told Dr. Sheety my concerns, because my Worker’s Comp claim was for moderate to severe hearing loss. Dr Sheety assured me that he had all the equipment needed to perform a thorough evaluation. I was confused by this statement but decided to give the benefit of the doubt. This was a big mistake. The exam took around 5 hours. It was all eye related testing and evaluation. Nothing to do with audiology. At the very end, they dilated my pupils for what felt to me like a final humiliating gag before driving 90 minutes back to San Diego with extremely sun-sensitive vision (at about 2 in the afternoon). I was honestly looking around the place as I left, thinking the guy from “Candid Camera” was going to arrive and let me know it was all a joke. This was no joke. After 35 days I received the QME exam in the mail, along with a denial letter from the State and my employers workers comp insurance company and the state board. They had to deny my claim because …… wait for it…because an eye specialist can’t make a determination of hearing loss! My guess is that the system is rigged. Certain Lawyers and Doctors are in-cahoots when it comes to performing these exam$. Very profitable I imagine for the specialist providing the test. I eventually ended up dismissing my attorney and getting an exam from an audiologist in San Diego. But the experience diminished my opinion of the medical community in general. I would recommend to anybody who is being sent here for QME for Workers Comp - based on my experience, you might want to consider going somewhere else.

Dr Sheety is by far the best eye doctor around, especially for difficult or challenging eye conditions. He focuses on specific needs of his patients as opposed to a generalized approach, resulting in the most customized care possible. This approach resulted in the restoration of my sight with acuity I never thought possible, considering how much my sight had deteriorated (due to misdiagnosis,etc) over the years prior to making him my doctor.

I recently had an exceptional experience with Dr. Michael Sheety, and I can't recommend him enough. Here are some highlights from my visit: Dr. Sheety genuinely took the time to listen to my concerns about dry eyes and provided thorough explanations and solutions. His commitment to improving my vision exceeded my expectations; I felt truly valued as a patient. The advanced diagnostic equipment he used was impressive and unlike anything I've encountered before with previous physicians, making the process smooth and informative. As a 38 year old female who works in the eye care industry as a medical device rep and knows just about every ophthalmologist and surgeon in Southern California, I can say with confidence he is the only doctor I would trust with my delicate treatments. I am scheduled to have ocular surface optimization and premium lens surgery. Look no further, he’s sincerely “the one”. On top of all that, he's easy on the eyes! 😉

Inaccurate medical advice. Expectations that he stated were not fulfilled and only made matters worse. Would not recommend for any eye care/cornea surgery

I had a really disappointing experience at this clinic. When I arrived, they asked me to fill out a form, which took about 15 minutes. After that, I waited nearly half an hour, and no one came to check on me or explain the delay. When I finally asked the front desk, the staff told me that because I took “a long time” (15 minutes!) to fill out the form, they weren’t sure when I would be seen — and that I’d probably need to wait another 30–40 minutes. So basically, I was expected to wait over an hour just to be seen, with no communication or notice in advance. The staff’s attitude was indifferent and unprofessional. If your time matters to you, go somewhere else. This clinic clearly doesn’t respect their patients.
