Frames are great! However, the lens experience was terrible. I first noticed an issue on the way home from picking up my frames because I could not read the signs with the new glasses that I could on the way to Modern Eye. I called them to remedy the issue. Their response was that I did not know how to use progressives. I responded that I have been in progressives for several years and had a pair that I could see out of fine with my current prescription. They put me on the phone with the person who worked with me, Laura, and she was quite defensive and rude. She asked me to come in. I did. The entire time, she was telling me I was wrong. They re-did the lenses. Because they did not leave me with a feeling of confidence, I asked my previous optician for the measurements. They were different from what Modern Eye did. I pointed that out when the second set of lenses still did not work. I asked to work with someone else to avoid any further not great interactions with Laura and have a fresh set of eyes look at the issue. The person forwarded my email to Laura who called me and left a really curt/confrontational message. When I arrived to have them readjusted -- because that was the only way they said they would deal with this issue --Laura told me that people are not sensitive to these measurements in a rude way. Modern Eye sent them off again. I called my insurance and my insurance said to just take them if they do not work again and I can get them filled elsewhere. The did not work the third time. Laura and her colleagues were acting strange each time I was there and I felt unwelcome. I decided to have my ophthalmologist and old optician look at the lenses as well. They both confirmed that the optical center measurements for distance were wrong and that the prescription put in the frames was lower than what the ophthalmologist prescribed. I went to my old optician for a new pair just to make sure it wasn't me because Laura, et al. had really made me feel like this was my fault and that she was just going through the motions. Those pair came back totally okay. That optician checked the lenses Modern Eye did and also said the prescription made was less than what the ophthalmologist provided--hence why I could not read the signs. There was even an instance where Laura laughingly said to me -- "Even I cannot see that far." -- during the progress. I was not only unable to see the distance I could normally see but it was also blurred and doubled and at night there was lots of light streaking. Given that the frames at Modern Eye are quite expensive and how the employees responded when I raised the issue that I could not read signs, I would not suggest getting glasses here. More frustrating things happened in these numerous encounters over many months that could have been solved my believing my initial concern and checking the prescription that was filled. Instead, I was treated as if I did not know how to use glasses, was wrong, and lacked ability to understand optics. My area of expertise is in optics, but it seems like they may have made incorrect assumptions about me in many ways, which is unfortunate. The time wasted is also unfortunate. The extra sad part is I used to go to the Center City location about 10 years ago, moved, and came back to the area. My experience then was great, but this time around it was unsettling and unfortunate.

I had a great experience at Modern Eye! It was my first time getting my eyes checked and the entire staff was friendly, compassionate, and helpful. When I returned to pick up my new glasses, a staff member offered to adjust my sunglasses that had been falling off my face for years! I really appreciated the all around care and attention Modern Eye gave its clients. Also, the place has just a fantastically eccentric and EYE-catching décor. ;) I will definitely return in the future.

They even can not do a simple job, they are just talking. If you care your eye health find more professional one and probably you will.
