I have been going to MyEyeDr for over 8 years at this point. I love Dr. Dearing at this office. But I wanted to take the time to tell you about Jenny. I was checking the status of my glasses and contact online and I notice they were shipped to my old address. Even though prior years had been shipped to my new correct address. I was frustrated because I was leaving on a trip. I called shorted tempered and Jenny was who answered the phone. She understood the mistake, and immediately started problem solving. I had told her I was out of contacts so she said, while they figured out if they needed to reship them she could get me some at the office. She told me she would talk to the Dr and her manager to see what they could do. Less than 10 minutes later she called me back to let me know she had contacted the shipping company and was able to reroute the contacts (which were due to arrive that day). They did! I was very impressed with the level of service and professionalism. Then she called the next day to follow up to ensure I got my contacts. This level of care from a large company is rare. This location is a gem.

Mixed experience. The clinical care was solid: the doctor was thorough and the prescriptions came out accurate. No complaint there. The issue is the billing structure, which I want to lay out specifically because I think other patients deserve to see the math before they walk in: 1) **Contact lens fitting fee**: Charged as a separate $150 service, but the cost was not disclosed before the service was performed. I only learned afterward that the fee drops to $15 if I purchase contacts through this office, or stays at $150 if I don't. For comparison, independent optometrists in DC typically charge $40-$80 for the same fitting service. $150 is at the high end of the market. This price is separate from the comprehensive exam fee which was the only service I asked for and believed I was getting, which was about the same price. I feel cheated because Ive walked out woth a bill twice as large as normal when I could have used my insurance more wisely. Despite that, I received care I needed. But the financial side of the visit deserves more transparency than I experienced.

My Eye Dr. Cathedral location has very stylish frames for every budget. Jenny and Carrianne always provide exceptional customer service. You are guaranteed not to have a boring frame shopping experience! These two ladies will definitely make you laugh and feel good about wearing glasses.

I recently moved to DC and was looking for a new eye doctor & while looking I was a little hesitant about coming here because of some of the reviews but I’m really glad I went! I ultimately decided to go because of the commentary about how great the staff is! And much like others have said, the staff was super nice and helpful & the doctor was very polite, efficient, & was happy to answer any questions I had. In regards to cost (which is an issue I’ve seen in other peoples reviews) they have prices which I would consider to be very standard for an eye doctor. In fact, the contacts I ordered were cheaper than I normally get them for. In regards to glasses I did not order any but from my years of experience, glasses are always going to be expensive if you want a quality pair. Also if you’re not content with the cost you can always get your prescription and shop for glasses elsewhere…. They will give you a copy of your glasses and contact prescription. I would also like to say that the sales person who helped me was extremely polite and helpful when it came to understanding the cost & she did not make me feel pressured into buying contacts from the store at all which I really appreciated. I will definitely be going back! Also I’ve never written a google review before but I’ve found that they are useful when trying to find a new doctor. I’m leaving this review for people like me, who might be in search of a new eye doctor, I would recommend going here!

I cannot emphasize enough what a terrible place this is. They fitted me for contacts and I received contacts with which I could not even drive. Their policy says you can get refitted and get new contacts, but since I had opened two boxes and used 10 pairs = 20 contacts out of 720!! they gave me only 6 boxes and not the eight they should have given me! I paid near $1,000 for 720 contacts (for a year supply) but I ended up with 540 contacts!! Even though they made the mistake and fitted me with the wrong prescription!! Before this happened I was treated disrespectfully through the whole process, they made comments about me that I could overheard, and on another occasion the optometrist got mad at me bc I was 10 min late. This is a terrible place and I don't recommend anybody to use it. Unprofessional people and be aware of the deceitful policies.

Everyone here is so friendly! I hadn’t been to the eye doctor in 30 years and I was prescribed my first set of glasses but the entire staff was very patient and professional and explained everything from the diagnostic tests to the eyewear choices. Appreciate the kindness and the patience.
