My partner visited today and had a horrible experience. The nurse and front desk were helpful and nice. However, the doctor that conducted the exam was incredibly unprofessional. The doctor pushed for an optional dilation alternative for $50 that my partner had to decline multiple times. My partner stated they were uncomfortable with dilation and have difficulties getting their eyes touched, but the doctor required the process regardless. They were incredibly rough during the exam, pulling open my partner’s eyelids and acting very impatient and annoyed the entire exam. No eye protection was provided for post dilation (again, something my partner said multiple times they Did Not want to do). So when we left their eyes were still dilated and it was incredibly painful for them on the way home as the sun exposure to their eyes was actively damaging them. - Even the children’s optometrist offices we’ve visited provide disposable protection for post-dilation session… how incredibly disappointing and unprofessional. On top of all of that, the whole process took over an hour, even though it was just a basic exam. We arrived on time for our appointment at 1:20pm and finally left 2:45pm. It made us feel incredibly uncomfortable and stressed, all for a simple, routine exam. We will be seeking another practice for future visits, and would not recommend this location whatsoever.

The optometrists are fine. But, as others have noted, NVG's billing department is subpar when it comes to insurance coverage and customer service. NVG also charges a bit more for contacts and glasses than elsewhere.

The VA sent me here for an eye exam & new prescription. I was told to arrive at 2pm for a 215pm appointment, "for paperwork ". I did and the paperwork was complete promptly. I wasn't called for my appointment until after 230pm. They took pictures of my eyes and sat me in a second waiting room stating, we'rejust going to clean the office for you. I waited until 250pm as staff walked past me. I went back to the check in desk and asked how long until I would be seen, the desk clerk walked into the back and returned to say "they are just cleaning an office for you". I explained that is what I was told almost 30 minutes ago and I am annoyed that I have been there almost an hour now and not been seen yet. The desk clerk tried to assure me it would be soon. I asked to reschedule and was told no they wouldn't reschedule me, ok so I left. This office does not respect its patients, the staff are disorganized, ignored me, and then tried to tell the va I simply left at my appointment time which is a blatant lie. What a way to treat veterans such as myself. I just want to see better and reduce the migraines but I shouldn't have to wait months for an appointment nor sit in the lobby for an hour with no explanation or update or anything. I was not the only patient experiencing this issue today. Find another clinic, one that cares about you and isn't only concerned with insurance and upselling $40 pictures of your eyes at the front desk with zero explanation of anything. Maybe if someone had even stopped to ask how long I've been waiting or responded when I spoke up asking myself what was going on, but instead my inquiry was met with rudeness and substantial lack of care whatsoever. I drove from truckee today just for this and so thanks for that nevada vision. Shame.
