Absolutely terrible experience one year ago — writing this because I’m due for a new prescription and am reminded of why I won’t be returning. I went in for an eye exam in order to replace my older pair, as I was due for updated lenses after two years. I was also hoping to have a prescription closer to the contacts I’d been wearing for the past year and a half for reference. The glasses they ordered for me were horrendous. I was ultimately given the completely wrong prescription to the point where it felt like I was falling face first into the sidewalk when I took a step. I’m not sure how the glasses that were ordered for me were so incredibly off, but they insisted it was what their machine was reading as my prescription. After complaining, they conducted a second eye exam (with a lot of unfriendliness and attitude) where I brought my contacts in again and was told they’re the completely wrong prescription and that I’d just have to “get used to” the feeling of the prescription they’d given me for the glasses, which is absolutely preposterous. These glasses that they reordered still did not work and were barely any better than the first pair. They refused to help me any more and I have not used the glasses once because I begin to develop a headache within ten minutes as my right eye is completely blurry in them. Complete waste of my time, incredibly infuriating experience, and potentially broken machinery that they trust over their patients’ experiences AND OTHER EYE DOCTORS’ prescriptions. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

Highly recommend. Ali & team are kind, professional, and will not incessantly upsell you on eyeglass extras. My only qualm is that it took a good 2 weeks to get my glasses—after I was told they could do a rush job and get them sooner. Will use them for all my future eyeglass needs!

Tl;dr Very nice people, very nice service, loved the customer desk and front desk they were really incredible! I just 1) didn't get glasses 2) my prescription was inaccurate. My low rating is just from 2 things: 1) They didn't give me glasses. They verified my insurance included me getting a pair of glasses and they just didn't give me glasses. I talked to them about it several times and had email correspondence and just... never got glasses. And I don't mean "a frame that I liked" because I was down for any pair just to use when driving but I just couldn't get glasses. So it was kinda a waste for me insurance wise. 2) My test was inaccurate. Since they wouldn't give me glasses, I bought some with the prescription they gave on Zenni but they required I strain my eyes to see... I also remember during my eye appointment they gave me glasses that required me to strain really hard to see and even then just a few seconds with me being unable to read the chart. I remember mentioning it but we didn't do another exam or anything to fix it. I was told my eyes just needed time to adapt but 2 weeks later and I was still struggling. Eventually I pay out of pocket for another eye exam somewhere else and I get a different prescription, different numbers, and a pair of glasses included that don't require strain and improved my vision dramatically. -------------------------------- Advice for the team? - Maybe don't prescribe people a prescription if they can't read a letter chart? - Say in advance if you can't provide glasses. If there were no glasses that I could get it would have saved us both time to send me to another location. - Your team deserves SO much praise! They made this whole experience a LOT smoother. Especially their front staff I felt heard and understood and learned a lot for my first time getting glasses.

Best experience ever. I needed new glasses after a dog chewed my old ones and had a wedding the same day. Ashanti made sure I was taken care of, she was absolutely amazing! And the optometrist came in on short notice to fit my lenses and adjust the new frames. I am blown away by how kind everyone was and how quickly they worked to get me into new glasses. The eye exam itself was straightforward and fine. Unfortunately, the process of getting contact lenses was extremely frustrating. Despite noting that my contacts should be covered as medically necessary, I was overcharged and had to repeatedly call both the optician and my insurance for updates. My insurance stated that no approval had been submitted, and the optician could not provide clear status updates. I only received an update after my insurance contacted the office on my behalf. It ultimately took six months to receive my contacts. When I asked about the refund for the overcharged copay, I was initially told it had already been issued, which was not true. After additional back-and-forth, the refund was processed later that same day. While delays can happen, the lack of timely and transparent communication made this a very poor customer experience.

From the front staff to the Dr. 100% carefully schedule my appointment Considering my availability. The facilities and equipment was clean. I sat on my glasses and damaged both of the arms, park slope optical was able to fix it for me within 30 minutes. They were super nice and did a great job. If you need your glasses repaired, don’t go anywhere else! Support your local businesses!

In my 25 years of wearing glasses, this is the best optometry practice I've ever been to. I came to Dr. Arthur explicitly for his expertise in treating keratoconus, a condition I've had for a number of years. I have seen multiple ophthalmologists for this but none have provided nearly the level of insight into my specific case as Dr. Arthur did. As my vision has worsened, I have struggled to use progressive lenses for some time. Dr. Arthur confirmed that the problem was in fact not the keratoconus, but that I had never been correctly fitted for progressives by a skilled optometrist. He had me work with Ismaa to pick out frames that would sit at the correct position on my face for my eyes to be able to comfortably see all areas of the lenses. Ismaa was incredibly patient with my skepticism about buying yet another pair of progressive lenses, and she expertly guided me toward many frames which fit the bill. She took several measurements of where my pupils were in relation to the frames I chose in order to be sure that the lenses would be made to my precise needs. When my glasses came in, I was shocked at what a difference the correct fitting and higher quality lenses made in my vision. My prescription had not changed from a year ago, but I could see much more clearly with this pair than with any progressives I'd had before. I will definitely be back to see Dr. Arthur and Ismaa the next time I need new glasses!

Wanted to share a quick thanks to the team at Park Slope Optical. I popped in for some quick adjustments and they were helpful, friendly, and professional! I recently got a new pair of glasses from another optometrist, however they haven’t been sitting properly on my face. I tried a few adjustments with them but it never worked out. I then brought them in to Park Slope Optical to see if they could take a look and make some adjustments. They took the time to examine the glasses, how they were sitting as I wore them, and went back and forth making adjustments that ultimately worked great! I’m impressed by the level of service and will be back for future pairs. They looked to have a good selection of designer brands, and they mentioned they’re also happy to do just lenses if you already have frames

I came in without an appointment to have some lenses put in an old pair of frames, I was in and out quickly and the service was great!

After accidentally stepping on my wife’s glasses and bending the frame in multiple places, we stopped into Park Slope Optical and the team there was extremely helpful! It was clear that they have a lot of experience and skill. They were able to readjust the frame and have it fit even better than before - all in just a few minutes. Would highly recommend and come back again.

My partner and I both got new glasses from Park Slope Optical recently and had great experiences. The staff here are super knowledge, and just want to offer good advice rather than trying to push you to buy something. We also found them to be very responsive to email, questions, etc. This place is really a gem.

Showed up just before closing time, and Dennis stayed late to adjust my glasses and give me new nose pads. He took his time to make sure they fit just right and gave me a careful explanation of what he was doing with every adjustment. Give this man a raise!

Wow, first time getting glasses here, and blown away by their customer service and commitment to quality work. They cut the lens to your frames on site, and make sure the final product works for you. (Other places ship it to some third party for that.) Even more reason to support such awesome neighborhood businesses! Plus I hate searching for frames to fit my tiny face, but they were patient and thoughtful enough to suggest kids frames. Thank you so much for the new pair!

Took my 15-year-old much-loved, much-abused, and quite fragile Kawasaki rimless frames, which were basically falling apart. Vladimir did an amazing job, ordering new bushings, calling as soon as they came in, and not only replacing the bushings but realigning the entire frames, strengthening and cleaning, and charging me only for the very inexpensive bushings. Great! My ancient glasses are like new. :)

Came second year in a row for my annual and contact lens exams — had great experiences both times. Doctors were super thorough and answered all the questions I had. I started to get dry eye in the last 6-ish months and we troubleshot what could the reason be (ended up being preservative allergy and switching to different drops fully helped). This year I also ordered glasses, Ali was very helpful in breaking down the cost components and checking the fit for my astigmatism. Heads up that you can buy a 1 year full replacement insurance for something like $45. I am careful with my glasses but decided to add that on since accidents happen. Getting the exact frames I wanted from Ray-Ban took a bit longer than expected but PSO couldn’t control that and they kept me updated. The production of glasses once the frames arrived was lightening fast.

do not come here. they got my glasses prescription wrong, it was so off that i was quite dizzy within 5 minutes of putting my new glasses on. when i told this to front desk they encouraged me to "try them anyways for a few days" despite the fact that my former prescription was fine and was stable for years. they also told me the wrong appointment time over the phone and expected me to wait for an hour to get my prescription fixed. there's too many other good places around , don't waste your time here
