I've had my annual diabetic eye exam by Dr. D for five years now and cannot be more pleased. His demeanor is awesome, his staff are well trained and friendly, and the whole group assists navigating the black hole called insurance.

Loved this eye doctor. Kind of hard to get ahold of. I'll leave more messages.

I've been bringing my family to Dr. D since 2006. Before Dr. D I bounced around from optometrist to optometrist, never visiting the same place twice. Dr. Degenaer shed some light on my eyes special needs and I've seen him every year since. I no longer despise getting my eyes checked.

Paul Degenaer Is one of the best eye doctors in the greater DFW area. I went to one of the more expensive places thinking if you send more $, you’ll get a better doctor, or better service. Not true. In my opinion these places are more concerned about selling you the most expensive frames, lenses, and contacts, and the least amount of time was spent by the O.D. on my actual needs for better site. I spent a year with over correction, and bi-focal contacts. aka, I was diagnosed based on age, and not via proper testing. I spent a year with headaches and had trouble using my smartphone for work. I went back to Paul Degenaer after moving 25 miles away to get a real diagnosis. He immediately knew that I had the wrong prescription, and that I did not need the “bi-focal” contacts which just happen to be the most expensive ones in the market. Paul Degenaer and his awesome staff do not sell frames/contacts at Texas Eye Doc, but simply give you the best options based on your actual eye needs. He’s also always on the cutting edge of any products to serve his patients. My headaches are gone, and my correct contacts/glasses prescription have my vision at 20/15. Normally not a big reviewer, but Paul Degenaer earned it.

Went in for a standard eye test and Paul and his staff provided a comfortable and professional experience! Highly recommended!

Have gone to Dr Degenaer for approximately 10 yrs. He is excellent - very knowledgeable and explains things well.

My family and I have been using Dr. Degenaer for several years. We always have a very positive experience and always recommend him to our extended family and friends.

After 20+ years at TSO, I had recently become frustrated. Someone suggested I try Dr. Degenaer. Located at Walmart, I was hesitant.. Y’all, this was one of the best decisions of my life! I’ve always worn contacts for distance but recently needed reading glasses. TSO fitted me for monovision, one contact for reading and one for distance. It was a miserable two years. Dr. D asked me not to give up, but to give his prescription a try. I could immediately see better! Now I don’t have to pull out those fancy reading glasses to look at my phone AND I can read the street signs! Saw him yesterday for my yearly exam and am happy to report I’m still seeing 20/20. Don’t even think of using these people. Went to the office to ask why they would not renew my contact prescription. Grumpy and rude girl working there said “it’s a state law you have to have an annual eye exam” I left for 10 minutes, looked up the state requirement and there is no such law. I went back and stated to the grumpy unprofessional girl “you misstated the facts and that’s illegal”. Her reply was “don’t shoot the messenger”. Then I told her to have Dr D call me to discuss and if he didn’t I would file a complaint with the state board. Dr D didn’t call and now I’m filing a complaint.

I saw Dr. Degenaer for nearly 20 years...almost the entire time I lived in the area. He was just the best. Appts were always on time and thorough. Loved his sense of humor and beside manner. After my vision started changing over the last year, he took extra time and a few appts just to make sure I got *just* the right combo. I was sad to he was retiring as he was such a wonderful eye doctor, but also know his retirement was well deserved! Thank you for all of your care over the years Dr. Degenaer! You certainly set the bar high!

Just had my yearly eye exam with Dr. Degenaer, O.D. It's the first time seeing him since I moved to the area. He was very experienced, thorough, professional, and caring. I trust my eye care in his hands. I will see him next year. Truly the best doctor in town.

I have been going to Dr. Degenaer for several years. I've had excellent eye care and great service. Moreover, Dr. Degenaer is also compassionate. When I mentioned that I lost my job recently (and my vision insurance) -- he was gracious enough to give me several pairs of contact lenses free. Anyone looking for an eye doctor should make an appointment to see Dr. Degenaer!

Absolutely the worst experience of my life!!! Not even a star worthy. Not being able to speak fluent English cost my mother tears and humiliation from this doctor. I had to be called from my work to come help them translate (apparently because my mom and brother's English was not good enough). When I got there I was received by a doctor with clearly anger issues (as he threw his phone, out of frustration, because he "couldn't get a full response" from my mother but "yes" or "no" as I knocked on the door). My mother was just sitting there crying, feeling incompetent for not understating or being able to fully express how she felt. I understand the doctor might have felt frustrated because of communication issues but that was no excuse for treating my mother the way he did and disrespecting me for standing up for my mother. If he didn't want to deal with any communication issues, he should put a sign saying he doesn't accept patients who don't speak proper English. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone and I'm never setting foot on his office ever again.

Best optometry visit ever! I suffer from anxiety when it comes to eye doctors' appointments but this visit has cured me of that. If you are looking for an optometrist, try here first.

This is my eye doctor. Dr. Degenaer is such a nice guy. His staff is friendly, and helpful. I like the fact it is inside one of my favorite stores, Wal-mart.

Best doctor ever. Our family of five have been seeing Dr. Degenaer since the aughts. He is amazing. Thoughtful, professional and takes medical history into consideration. Very thorough. He’s has helped us with eye emergencies too. No one in this metroplex is better.

This doc is the bee's knees! He's so funny and personable and he always makes sure that the prescription really works. Last year, he sent me home with a bunch of disposable contacts because I was going on vacation and wouldn't have time to order real contacts, and this year he let me come back for a follow up appointment a couple of times because I've been having some issues with a contact fit on one eye due to astigmatism. I really can't rave about him enough.

Very knowledgeable doctor and professional and courteous staff. Even though I don't live in McKinney, I drive from Downtown Dallas because of the service.

I met Dr. Paul because my grand father n law had an eye appointment some years ago and I decided to give him a try for my families needs. He is very informative and very friendly. He even had to take a piece of rust out my eye, which was scary and he helped me through it. I would recommend him and his staff to anyone.
