Where do I start… Run, run fast. If I could give it less than one star, I would. Per my eye doctors’ referral due to increased floaters and higher eye pressure. I had my initial appointment on July 16, 2022, to evaluate the reason for more floaters in my eye, as well as viable solutions. It was clear upon entering the office that they overbooked appointments or were very understaffed. My wait in the waiting room was at least 45 minutes. When I went in for my evaluation, the doctor requested an image of my eyes to assess what was happening. When I went to get the imaging done, the technician said the machine was currently not in working order and that was the only machine in the entire office that could capture images of my eye. I heard her discuss with other technicians that “people that were conducting trial studies earlier in the morning did not tell us it was broken” After 30 minutes of tampering, they were able to get semi decent images of only my left eye and then it completely broke down. While they wanted to get an image of my right eye for comparison it was not able to happen. Finally, I go to the office to meet with Dr. Kerrison. He looked at the images of my eye and when I asked him why I had floaters, he stated that while he was not sure, he speculated that there could be an immune response that was attacking my eye. He did not try to find out more information, but rather assigned me an oral steroid to take. Even without a clear diagnosis, he then brought in another doctor and his assistant talk to being part of possible clinical trials for people that have constant floaters in their eyes for unknow reasons. This 2-year clinical trial would consist of putting injections in my leg every week or every other week and it could be a placebo and not actual medicine. I could either get the medication or a placebo. When I asked what happened after 2 years, they said that is when the trial ended. The fact that there was no interest in really understanding what is causing the problem in my eye, but rather getting me ready for their clinical trial, was concerning. Between the dysfunctional office organization, broken equipment, and more desire to monetize off patients than truly solve problem… I quickly left for a second evaluation. They billed me for this questionable service, which I will be disputing with help from my insurance company. Here is where I went for a MUCH better experience…. I have found a much better ophthalmologist at Carolina Eyecare. Dr. King reevaluated my eyecare plan which included evaluation, treatment, and care that has completely cleared my eye floaters. I will leave a more in-depth positive review for him on Google as well.

I visited my eye doctor (Dr. Eric P Janlon) and was extremely impressed with the level of service I received during the initial consultation, the surgery, and follow up. From the moment I walked in, the staff including Celeste was friendly and attentive, making me feel welcome and comfortable. The eye exam itself was thorough and informative, and my doctor took the time to explain the results and answer all of my questions relating to my sergury. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this eye doctor to anyone in need of optometry services. Retina Consultants of Charleston gets Five stars from #DamianBlair

Dr. Kerrison, I wanted to reach out and share our thanks for a few different reasons! My husband and I saw you yesterday where you diagnosed him with uveitis. He has been on his drops for 24 hours and what a difference they have made already! It was such a relief that you knew immediately what was wrong and could prescribe the best course of action. You were so helpful in treating my Vitreous Hemorrhage a few weeks back which was what caused me to bring my husband to you. To your staff…. each time I called they fit me, or Tim, in immediately. They put me on hold to ask you if you could see me at 4pm on a Friday and you said ye, then again when it got worse you actually called me to check in. When I called yesterday we had an appointment within 2 hours. That has not been lost on us and I really wanted to give your team the recognition, as well as yourself, for all you have done. With much gratitude and appreciation, Melissa
